PACK Interviews Bob Woodward

Kenston High School’s Political Action Committee of Kenston, PACK, had the opportunity to interview Mr. Bob Woodward at WVIZ studios. Kenston students moderated a distance learning program with other area schools.

PACK advisor Anissa Smith said, “He was so engaging with the students. He wanted to know about the students and the types of media they use to find out facts for their writing.”

KMS Students of the Month

Kenston Middle School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month.

Students selected for Student of the Month honors are sixth-graders Mya Gordon, Marcie Oglesbee, Garrett Prepetit and David Simmons; seventh-graders Michael Adams, Evan Brichmann, Kiersten Hawk and Makayla Robertson; and eighth-graders Olivia Beeman, Will Britton, It’sabelle Krzys and Ben Obringer.

Selected for special recognition were freshmen Kristina Croucher and Joshua Kain; sophomores Jacob Gratto and Chloe Sferra; juniors Jennifer Smith and Luke Winovich; and seniors Alexandra Belfi and David Clayton.

KHS Science Olympiad

Kenston High School Science Olympiad team ended its season with a fifth place finish at state competition.

Individual results were: second place – Geek Speak Trial Event, Andrew Krause and Josh Sellers; third place Chemistry Lab, Jacob Enders and Alexis Fleming; third place Mission Possible, Richard Desatnik and Zach Roshon; fourth place Mars Rover Trial Event, Abigail Fikter and Andrew Krause; fourth place Technical Problem Solving, Jacob Enders and Zach Roshon; fifth place Rocks and Minerals, Paul Gray and Leander Held; sixth place Dynamic Planet, Ashley Dvorak and Leander Held; and sixth place Ashley Dvorak and Alexis Fleming.

The team was comprised of Mitchell Babej, Luke Ballard, Logan Bishop, Scott Brown, Jeff Brown, Richard Desatnik, Ashley Dvorak, Jacob Enders, Abbey Fiktar, Alexis Fleming, Paul Gray, Leah Grcevich, Leander Held, Carmalita Hinson, Stephan Kocsis, Andrew Krause, David Mellone, Hannah Ramadan, captain Zach Roshon, captain Rachel Sauder, Josh Sellers, Vinothan Sivapalan and Harrison Uvegas.

The team is coached by Mr. Tony Solitro, Mr. David Rutana and numerous parent volunteers.

KMS Science Olympiad

Kenston Middle School Science Olympiad team ended its season with a 10th place finish out of 40 teams at state tournament.

Individual results were: fourth place Experimental Design, Bre Kramer, Nicholas Silva and Anna Snyder; and fifth place Solar System, Evan Frank and Betsey Ortner.

The team was comprised of sixth through ninth-graders: Alex Akers, Ainsley Bradbury,Fred Fikter, Christopher Fanantuzo, Mathew Fanantuzo, Jack Formica, Evan Frank, Kelcey Henrikson, Breanna Kramer, Travis Krebs, Tommy Kregenow, Sam Kress, Gabe Martorana, Chuck Mozingo, Audrey Oleskiewicz, Anna Ortner, Betsy Ortner, William Parsons, Ryan Sauder, Nicholas Silva, Anna Snyder, Patrick Vanderbilt, Alexandra Weinhofer and It’sabel Weinhofer.

Science Olympiad is a team competition in which students compete in events pertaining to various disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics and engineering. More than 6,400 teams from 50 U.S. states compete each year. The team is coached by Mr. Bob Sofranko, Mr. Ron Kupiec and numerous parent volunteers.
