The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 30 through June 6. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 353 calls during this seven-day period.
ALCOHOL OFFENSE
June 1
3:00 a.m., Plank Road, Montville. There is a graduation party that the caller believes is supplying alcohol to underage persons. The caller was invited, but did not want to be in that situation. Deputy advised. No party.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
May 30
3:03 p.m., Ravenna Road, Auburn. Female was driving on Ravenna Road in the area of Stafford. She saw some horses in the roadway. She got them off the road but can’t get them into the barn due to a dog in the barn. There is no one answering the door at the residence. She would like some assistance securing the horses. The horses were secured.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
June 2
11:30 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Caller reported his girlfriend shot him in the neck with a bb gun and is saying she is going to smash his car with a tire iron. She has a tire iron in her hand. Male did state he did not require a squad at this time and also advised there was a 10-month-old baby in the house asleep. The caller also stated prior to the officer’s arrival, his girlfriend kicked and pushed him down while they were arguing, then separated again. One arrested.
NOISE PROBLEM
May 4
5:10 p.m., Ashwood Drive, Newbury. Young males at the location are having band practice. Complainant asks a deputy request they stop for the evening; it has been going on for hours. Deputy spoke to homeowner. Band will stop in 15 minutes for today. Advice given.
SUSPICIOUS
May 30
10:42 p.m., Starbush Court, Auburn. Caller says someone rang their doorbell and no one was at the door. They don’t see anyone outside or any vehicles. They were not expecting anyone. Deputy spoke with complainant and another neighbor who said their children reported the same activity to them. Deputy toured the area and parked, monitoring without locating anyone suspicious. Deputy advised complainant he would provide extra patrol throughout the weekend.
June 3
1:36 p.m., Burrows Road, Montville. Female walking door to door trying to sell cleaning products. Approximately 5′ 110lbs, brown hair, black shirt and jeans. Hair is pulled back. She appears to be very shady. Recontacted the complainant. Left his residence approximately 1 hour ago, mentioned she was heading towards Thompson Square. Female found. She was selling glo clean, cleaning products out of Madison.
June 4
5:16 a.m., Elm Drive, Newbury. Caller reported bicycles all over the roads in Kiwanis Lake. Caller believes some kids must of done this through the night. Nice looking bicycles, unknown whose they are. Deputy took a tour of the area and observed about 3 bicycles in two different places. They were left there as this problem may resolve itself without police intervention. Clear.
June 5
2:05 p.m., Butternut Road, Newbury. Male in a black Ram 1500 with power equipment and pressure washers stopped in and offered to sell equipment for a real good deal. Seemed suspicious. Said Bulldog Industrial Greenville, S.C., on the truck. No front plate. Left residence going west bound on Butternut. Deputy checked the area and did not locate the vehicle. Spoke with the complainant who could not provide anymore information.
TRAFFIC CRASH
June 1
11:26 p.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. Caller reports possible crash. Caller now advising she believes it may have been down by the beach in Little Punderson. Deputy responded. Spoke with some males by the lake. They said a truck with a row boat in the back hit a speed bump. The row boat shifted and slammed against the bed of the truck. No crash.
June 2
10:58 p.m., Punderson Road, Newbury. At approximately 6:30 p.m. tonight the caller was riding his minibike in the area. A group of juveniles threw large branches into the road in front of the complainant causing him to crash and injure his ankle. Male is refusing a rescue squad, but has requested a report. Deputy advised. Complainant already notified parent of one juvenile of the damage. Info obtained. Caller given ORC pertaining to the unlicensed APV on the roadway as well.
VANDALISM
June 1
10:35 a.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Phone lines all cut. Complainant wanted to document the phone lines on the outside of the building were cut. Occurred sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. No suspects at this time. Complainant also stated someone has been tampering with mail as well, by removing it from the mailbox and throwing it into the storm drain at the corner of Washington Street and Wing Road. Requested an extra patrol during the hours after 1:30 a.m., when the bar closes.
