The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office August 29 through September 4. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 450 calls during this seven-day period.

DISORDERLY

September 2

2:25 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Caller is waiting in a green Toyota Van. A male occupant of a black Chevy Equinox exited the vehicle and began punching the complainants’ vehicle and yelling at the caller after an altercation on the road. Caller also believes the male and the female driver of the Equinox may have been involved in a verbal altercation just prior to the incident at Munson Elementary. The male was also observed hitting her vehicle. Caller is going to wait to meet with a deputy in the parking lot of Munson Fire Department. Deputy unable to locate the black Chevy SUV. Alert message sent to all local agencies to be on the lookout for the SUV and to check the welfare of the female driver.

EXTRA PATROL

September 3

8:16 a.m., Fowlers Mill, Munson. Complainant requests speed enforcement/extra patrol on Fowlers Mill Road during school hours in the morning. Complainant believes the students from NDCL are traveling at high rates of speed, and failing to comply with traffic control devices. He advises a deputy may use his driveway.

FRAUD

August 30

10:43 a.m., Old State Road, Middlefield. Caller requesting to meet with a deputy referencing a possible scam. Caller received a package, allegedly from the Comfort Inn, with two post office money orders. Instructions provided advised to cash them and mail money back.

ROAD RAGE

August 31

10:46 p.m., Taylor May Road, Auburn. Caller was at Washington and Bainbridge and a tan/yellow truck went through the stop sign. The caller flashed their lights and then he kept slamming on his brakes and weaving all over. We went southbound on Munn and then we went to turn on Taylor May and he stopped and almost got out of his truck. He rolled his window down and started yelling at us. I told him I flashed my lights because he ran the stop sign and then left. He started following us down Taylor May, then pulled in a drive and left towards Munn. Truck was possibly a Ford with six lights on the top.

SUSPICIOUS

August 30

9:21 p.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. Female reported walking in the roadway. Deputy observed a 23-year-old female walking down state Route 44 without shoes. Female was visibly pregnant. She stated she was left at the hospital by her mother after her mother became upset over her choice of names for the child. She was medically released from the hospital and stated she was medically fine. She was given a ride to her home where she retrieved an overnight bag and cell phone charger. She was then transported back to the sheriff’s office to wait for a friend to pick her up and she did not want to stay at her mother’s residence. No violence or threats of violence occurred.

September 1

12:51 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Campsite 198 is causing a lot of noise at the campsite. Caller believes they are doing some illegal activity and putting fire inside their tents. Caller refused to give her information from campsite 190. Deputy responded. The campers were four males playing cards, no music was playing, and they advised that they would be going to bed soon.

September 1

2:02 a.m., Kevin Lane, Hambden. The neighbor has something burning in the driveway, possibly a tiki torch or a citronella lamp on the patio table. Caller states she is concerned because she can’t take her dog out. She says there are people outside on the patio. Deputy responded. Complainant was upset because her neighbors were outside, on their own patio, sitting at a table, talking, with a candle burning. She stated that it was disturbing her dog. Complainant was advised that nothing could be done.

September 2

3:02 p.m., Colony Lane, Burton. Maroon Ford Taurus, older model, is parked on the side of Colony in the area of vacant wooded properties. The car is not occupied and the caller would like someone to check the vehicle. The caller states this kind of incident is occurring all the time more recently, she is not sure what is taking place. The caller does not need to meet with the deputy. Out of gas. Owner will be at Newbury Speedway. Will remove after that time.

September 3

8:12 p.m., Madison Road, Montville. Caller’s 10-year-old son states while he was at Montville Township Park, he told his father that someone pulled up in the park in a silver foreign car, opened the trunk and sounded like they were messing around with a shotgun. One of the son’s friends, an 11-year-old, also states he saw the shotgun. Appeared to be juveniles in the vehicle, 16- to 18-year-olds. Caller saw the vehicle when he went over to the park to get his son, but did not see a gun. Caller can’t tell if the vehicle is still at the park. September 4

4:11 p.m., Tavern Road, Burton. Caller believes someone is getting into her house. She has changed the locks and gotten a security system. She pulled in front of the garage and the garage door opened by itself. She checked the security system and the garage door and the back door are no longer attached to the system. Deputy advised. Female cited multiple suspicious circumstances around the residence. Unable to confirm activity. Locks changed, doors secured and security system in place. Extra patrol in area during daytime hours.

THEFT

August 29

2:31 p.m., Thomas St., Newbury. Leaf blower was stolen some time in the last month. Caller believes it may have been taken from the back of his van. Victim advised that his Stihl leaf blower was stolen out of the back of his van. He stated that about a month ago, his wife heard a noise in the middle of the night and believes it may have been taken that night. No suspects or leads.

August 29

5:16 p.m., Madison Road, Huntsburg. Young male in his 20s came to caller’s door selling cleaning solution. He asked to use her bathroom and some of her husband’s medicine is now missing. Turquoise shirt, blue jeans. Deputy found the male, who consented to a thorough search including socks and shoes. Pills not located. Male was advised not to do any further sales until his company notifies the sheriff’s office with identities of salesmen in the area. Male advised his ride was picking him up at 6 p.m. No evidence located on male proving his involvement with the theft of any pills.

VANDALISM

August 31

6:55 p.m., Quinn Road, Auburn. Caller wants to meet with a deputy. She advised someone vandalized her property with beer bottles and damaged her solar lights by throwing them in her pond. Deputy advised. The caller wanted to report someone had thrown their solar lights into the pond, and they left some alcohol bottles in the pond. Also asked for extra patrol in the evenings.
