The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office October 24 through October 30. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 365 calls during this seven-day period.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Oct. 26

11:03 p.m., Farmington Road, Parkman. Complainant received a text message and a voicemail stating that he needed to return the call or they were going to press charges. Would like to speak to a deputy. Deputy advised. The com-plainant didn’t have any photos on his phone that I could observe. The voicemail was from a male that identified himself as law enforcement, his name and agency were not able to be identified. I advised the com-plainant that unless the person identifies themselves do not give them any personal information in case of the call being a scam. Advice was given.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Oct. 26

3:45 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Caller lives next door to Chardon Water Treatment plant. She states they flushed their hydrants and flooded their back yard. Deputy left voicemail for complainant. No answer when contacted.

SUSPICIOUS

Oct. 24

1:25 a.m., Erwin Drive, Burton. Light came on outside and he sees his neighbors taking his wood. Caller does not want to speak to a deputy. He would like someone to drive by and see if he is still out there. This has been an ongoing problem. Deputy advised. Checked the area and unable to locate.

Oct. 24

9:51 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Someone has been ringing my doorbell consistently for the past half hour. Caller is not expecting anyone. Caller is in the lower level of the house and the door is on the floor above her. She refuses to look out the window to see if there is a vehicle. Deputy advised. Someone called the residence about an hour ago to say they had a prescription to deliver. Caller has had prescriptions delivered before but it is always by UPS and has never had anyone call before about delivering them. Caller’s vehicles are parked in the garage. The doorbell has not gone off since the caller has called 911. There was a notice on the door that someone was there around the time of the call trying to deliver a package. Caller was given the notice that was hanging on the door.

Oct. 25

2:01 p.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Younger Amish male came into caller’s yard and asked if he can shoot a deer if it comes into her yard. Male left on foot north of Auburn. Curly hair with hat and no beard. Male did not have hunting gear or license on him. Caller is just concerned because he came up on her very quietly and scared her.

Oct. 27

1:00 a.m., Washington St., Auburn. Older truck at the church in the back of the lot. Someone is sleeping in the bed of the truck. Truck is by a trailer that is in the back of the property. Deputy responded. The occupants of the

vehicle were traveling from New Jersey on their way to Michigan. They decided to rest for the night at the parking lot. They were advised to continue on their journey and find a rest area somewhere else. They complied and left the area without incident.

Oct. 30

2:43 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller states that he was given a fake $100 bill by two black individuals, a male and a female. They were driving an older red sedan. They said they were heading to Chardon Court. Male is the driver. The cashier still has the bill. Chardon Police Department advised. Complainant advised that when he confronted the unknown male about what later confirmed to be a counterfeit $100, the male advised that he did not know and provided another bill to pay for his items before leaving the store. The clerk kept the bill which he believed to be counterfeit and I later confirmed with a bank under a black light to be counterfeit. Bill will be sent to the secret service.

VANDALISM

Oct. 29

5:56 p.m., View Drive, Newbury. Someone burnt caller’s mail and mailbox today. Complainant is requesting extra patrol for the next few days while she moves out. Incident occurred during the day and she is requesting additional patrol during days. It was suggested to the complainant that she notify the post office since she is not aware whether or not paychecks were in the mail that was burned. Complainant will follow up at her job to see whether or not checks were sent to her home. She doesn’t believe the mischief is due to her pending divorce as the incidents occur while she is away with her children at her husband’s home. Other incidents of mischief have occurred; however, none have been reported.
