The Middlefield police and fire departments worked with the Cardinal Middle School students during the month of October. The students learned the educational process that is needed in order to become a police officer and/or firefighter.
They were able to try on fire gear and handcuffs, and they asked some great questions.
Students will continue to learn about various careers throughout the school year. Once a month, they will learn and practice skills to increase their career readiness. All had a great time.
The students sent a special “thank you” to the Middlefield fire and police departments for taking the time to be a part of the program.
World History Greek Festival
Students in Mrs. Heselden’s world history class have been busy this year. They just finished a Greek Festival with delightful food, clothing, projects, models, games and displays. Students did a wonderful job.
The class is now beginning a unit on Rome. They are learning that the saying, “All Roads Lead to Rome” was true. They will be doing group projects on roads, technology and Roman architecture during the week.
Veterans Day Appreciation
For Veterans Day, Cardinal Middle School students wanted to express their appreciation to all servicemen and women. The students made posters and banners in art class that were then displayed around the building.
Students also received new aprons that Home Depot of Chardon generously donated to the art program. The staff and students are so happy to have the art program reinstated at the middle school after it was cut out of the budget a few years ago.
Students also wrote essays to the VFW where they discussed why they appreciate United States veterans. The essays will be judged by the VFW for money prizes. The students took this a step further by designing their own commemorative stamps for USA veterans on Veterans Day.
