The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Nov. 14-20. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 334 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Nov. 18

7:26 p.m., Madison Road, Huntsburg. Two dogs left outside all the time. Caller advised it doesn’t appear they have shelter. He also doesn’t know if they are taken in at night because the last time he drives by is 5:30 at night. Would like it checked to see if the dog warden needs to be called. Deputy responded to the address. No dogs seen nor heard on the property and caller’s information was not obtained.

Nov. 20

10:32 a.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Complainant’s dog attacked a deer, it is not dead. Deputy responded. One round to dispose of the deer. Deer entered dogs enclosure. Will call back for receipt if she finds someone who wants the deer.

CITIZEN’S ASSIST

Nov. 17

8:08 a.m., Quinn Road, Auburn. Caller had someone hack her computer. Female just needs to talk to a deputy. Deputy advised. Victim opened an email that stated it was from Kenston High School. She downloaded a virus. The suspects are requiring $500 – $1,000 in bitcoins to release her computer files. Advice was given to contact Kenton Schools regarding use of email address, contact company she purchased computer from for repairs and to contact her bank.

EXTRA PATROL

Nov. 19

7:39 a.m., Mayfield Road, Chester. Complainant is requesting 24/7 extra patrol for the trucks for no engine brake between Sperry and Heath. He advised he has called several times in the past and nothing has been done. He would like the problem handled. It is posted “No engine brake”. He never sees anyone doing patrol for this problem.

MEDICAL

Nov. 14

10 a.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Worker is at the jail pumping out the grease trap. He has a laceration to his finger. He said he was going to walk to the hospital but we told him not to. Checked around the building, unable to locate truck or driver. Per Munson Fire Department, subject drove himself to the hospital.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Nov. 15

3:17 p.m., Paulette Drive, Burton. Neighbor said a white truck turfed our front yard. Deputy advised. An older large Dodge pickup truck with extended bed and loud exhaust got stuck in the ditch at the end of Paulette Drive. Neighbor helped push the vehicle out of the ditch. The vehicle lost brakes and drove through the residence. Vehicle left westbound out of Burton Lakes. Driver was a white male around 20 years old. Driver was not known around the area. Negative alcohol or drugs according to the witness.

SUSPICIOUS

Nov. 15

12:14 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Caller states that a few weeks back they were at the Iron Horse and across the river was a stray dog. They took the canoe over and got the dog that was laying at a tree by three pairs of female underwear neatly folded next to a tree right across from the canoes that are stored. Deputy spoke with the complainant who was just concerned.

Nov. 19

8:31 p.m., Rapids Road, Troy. Alarm at Creative Processing Inc. The zone is 7 shop entry doors. The alarm company is still attempting to reach someone. Deputy located the north door unsecure. The deputy deployed his canine who checked the interior of the building. Nothing suspicious was located and canine was loaded back in the cruiser.

THEFT

Nov. 14

3:00 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Home and business storage. Complainant states he was told his storage locker was broken into. Several items were taken. Two tool chest roll aways, air compressor and several other items. Complainant is on scene. Deputy responded. Storage unit was broken into and multiple items were stolen. Extra patrol requested.

THREATENING

Nov. 16

5:56 p.m., Chardon Windsor Road, Huntsburg. Homeowner received a call saying that they were from the publisher’s clearing house and said that they had won an award and that they needed to respond to a Walgreens, Walmart or a Radio Shack to get the prize. The homeowner questioned the caller and wanted to speak with a manager. At this point the caller said that they would come over and kill the homeowners. They did know the homeowner’s names. Deputy advised. Scam call from Jamaica.

Nov. 17

3:46 p.m., Claridon Troy Road, Burton. Caller received a phone call from an unknown male stating he was going to take her dog. The caller would like to meet with a deputy. Complainant advised that she received a suspicious phone call from an unknown male who wanted to purchase her dog. She stated that she told the male the dog was not for sale and hung up the phone. Complainant wished to document this incident.

WELFARE CHECK

Nov. 20

1:29 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Hambden. 14-year-old daughter is home from school sick today. The alarm went off indicating a door was opened, but the alarm wasn’t set because someone is home. She is scared and would like someone to check on her. She probably will cry. Mother feels it was probably the wind that set the alarm off. But would like her checked. Deputy spoke with the daughter who advised she was fine. Deputy checked around the house and nothing suspicious was found.
