KMS Students of the Month

Kenston Middle School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month.

Students selected for Student of the Month honors were sixth-graders Delaney Bochenek, Nathan Carney, Michael Persichetti, Halle Preneta and Paul Stayner; seventh-graders Jay Ohlsen, Aubrey Taylor, It’sabel Weinhofer and Alan Wood; and eighth-graders Kayla Drcar, Ethan Brinkman-Sull, Evan Friygier and Rihanna Patrick.

Rotary Senior

Graycen Wood has been selected Kenston’s Chagrin Valley Rotary Club Student of the Month. She maintains a 4.212 GPA. Graycen was recognized as an AP Scholar by the College Board. She has earned 10 departmental awards and an academic letter, academic medal and plaque for her honors in advanced algebra, algebra II/trigonometry, biology, business law, Honors English, geometry, health, world history, Spanish II and Spanish III.

Graycen has embraced many leadership roles while at Kenston. She serves on Principal’s Leadership Council and National Honor Society. Currently, she is the captain of the Bomberettes. She has been awarded six first place national titles and the title Grand National Champions at the Champion Cheer Central’s 2014 Hard Rocking Nationals along with numerous individual and team awards. As a Bomberette, she will perform at the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day.

Outside of school, Graycen is very involved in the Geauga County 4-H program holding numerous officer positions. Currently, she is president of Giggles ‘n Stiches sewing club and Geauga County Youth Fashion Board. Her clothing projects have been selected five times to represent Geauga County at the Ohio State Fair. She won the 2013 Grand Reserve Champion Junior Doe and 2014 Grand Champion Junior Doe for pygmy goats at the Great Geauga County Fair. She is a member of the Geauga County Junior Fair Board and member of the 2014 Junior Fair Queen Court. She served as a prosecutor in the Geauga County 2013 Teen Court program.

She plans to major in English and minor in Spanish and legal studies at either Mount Union or Westminster College. She will continue her education and attend law school to earn her Juris Doctorate degree.

Librarian Honored

Kenston High School librarian Sue Subel was commended by the Ohio Educational Library Media Association (OLEMA) for her contributions as an advocate for student success through a quality library program.
