Geauga County residents interested in management of the county’s public health services are invited to apply for appointment to the Geauga County Board of Health.

Geauga County residents interested in management of the county’s public health services are invited to apply for appointment to the Geauga County Board of Health.

Potential candidates must either be a physician or hold a medical degree.

Appointment is for a term of five years and is a volunteer unpaid public service.

The board of health consists of five members who are responsible for working cooperatively with the Geauga County Health Commissioner and his staff, and the elected local government officials to ensure that both the environmental and personal health services the county health department provides are in compliance with state law, meet the public health needs of residents and stay within the budget of the department.

Appointment to the board of health is made by the 22 members of the Geauga County Health District Advisory Council (HDAC). Members of the HDAC are the chairman of each board of township trustees in the county (16), the mayor of each village or city council (5), and the chairman of the board of county commissioners (1).
