‘The Music Man’ Opens April 17

Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man” will run in April and May at Geauga Lyric Theater, concluding its 60th anniversary year with a bang. The much-loved family classic is directed by Mark Cipra, who also directed “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “Romeo and Juliet” on the GLTG stage.

Cast member John Kolar, popular chief naturalist for Geauga Park District, is thrilled to be playing the iconic Professor Harold Hill. It has been a wish of his mother’s since he began doing community theater almost 13 years ago and he dedicates these performances to her. John was last on GLTG’s stage as the scarecrow in “The Wizard of Oz.” Talent abounds in this production and sets the stage for Geauga Lyric Theater’s new season in the fall A Season of Laughter.

“The Music Man” will run weekends April 17-19 and May 1-10 at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays. There will be no performances during the Chardon Maple Festival.

Tickets are $10 for children 12 and under, $15 for students and seniors, and $18 for adults.

The historic Geauga Theater is located at 101 Water St. Chardon.
