The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 10-16. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 324 calls during this seven-day period.
EXTRA PATROL
April 14
8:20 a.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Complainant requesting extra patrol for vehicles running the red traffic light at Washington Street and Auburn Road. She states she has nearly been involved in multiple accidents in the last two weeks due to vehicles flying through the red light. It occurs most often in the mornings between 7-8:30 a.m., but has also occured in the evening as well. Zone care involved.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
April 12
5:38 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. On Cheyenne Trail caller states that someone has been drilling holes into the floor of his trailer. He advised management but they did nothing about it. Caller states he was woken up this morning by the smell of propane filling his trailer. He also states someone tried to siphon his kerosene from the outside of his trailer. Deputy spoke with the complainant and he advised someone has been going under his trailer and cutting holes in the insulation. Deputy looked under the trailer at the holes and they appeared to have been made by an animal. Advice given.
SUSPICIOUS
April 10
5:00 p.m., Nauvoo Road, Middlefield. Two males were just in the store and may have been buying ingredients to make meth. One male was bald with a goatee and missing several teeth wearing a dark blue sweatshirt, about 50-year-old white male. He purchased two cans of lye. The second male was younger, wearing a gray sweatshirt and bought lye as well. He was maybe 30. They were driving a tan van with white doors and a temporary tag with a black hood thought to be a 15-passenger van. Deputy spoke with the complainant. He said the two males bought 10 pounds of lye and a couple of tools. Com-plainant said he was able to get the tags off the vehicle, but did not see which way they went when they left. Com-plainant said they did not do anything wrong while in the store. He just felt that the large purchase of lye was suspicious and wanted to report it to the sheriff’s office.
April 11
7:39 p.m., Grove Road,?Parkman. Caller’s 9-year-old daughter was out getting the mail when a subject pulled into the driveway and started asking her questions about where her parents are and if she lived there. He stated he was just arrested in Solon. Subject is a white male, older, possibly driving a black pickup truck that left west bound. Caller would like to speak to a deputy and report the incident.
April 13
1:15 p.m., Brittany Woods Drive, Auburn. Droid Max was stolen last night and the caller is viewing it on “Find My Phone” in the area of Brittany Woods. Caller is going to start heading toward that area and would like to meet a deputy and attempt to retrieve his phone. He will call with any plotting updates. Complainant called back advising a male subject found the phone and has left it at the bar for him. Caller no longer needs assistance.
7:21 p.m., Brakeman Road, Hambden. A male in a dark colored Blazer pulled into her driveway looking for a kennel. The vehicle was last seen north on Brakeman. Vehicle pulled into the callers driveway. The occupants stated they were looking for a kennel. Caller felt that they may have been there for other reasons. Deputy checked the area and was unable to locate vehicle.
April 16
6:57 p.m., Fox Drive, Chardon. Caller states she received a call from a male with a thick accent stating she won $5 million. She is concerned because he was able to tell her what her address is. He went on to ask personal questions such as are you married? Does anyone live with you? Caller states they have called in the past stating she won a million dollars. Deputy advised. No crime occurred. No loss of money. Advice given.
THEFT
April 14
4:40 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Caller’s house burned down last year and they have been temporarily staying at a trailer on the property. She has noticed that some property, like jewelry, has gone missing from her house. She also noticed lights and people around the house quite frequently. There is no one presently at the location. Deputy advised.
THREATENING
April 10
3:59 p.m., Rockhaven Road, Munson. A male received a phone call and the caller threatened to kill him. Male on the phone sounded foreign. Deputy advised of the call. A male received a call from a male with a middle-eastern accent. After telling the caller he couldn’t understand due to his accent, he said “you will be dead in an hour.” Complainant wants incident on file only and requesting extra patrol over the next few days.
TRAFFIC CRASH
April 10
10:48 a.m., Munn Road, Auburn. Male pinned under a tractor 1,000 feet off the road. I believe he is deceased. John Deere, old tractor. He is not moving. He is purple. Completely under the tractor. Caller is in silver vehicle. The tractor is just off the driveway. Report taken. Private property crash.
TRESPASSING
April 14
7:17 a.m., Murphy Road, Montville. Subject fishing at the lake. He is parked on the side of the road just north of Leggett on Murphy. There is a bridge there. He was told to leave before. Male fishing claimed to have permission from a resident. Com-plainant advised he may in fact have permission. Male was advised to ensure he has written permission from the resident in the future. Male left the property with no problems to note.
April 15
2:15 p.m., Pond Road, Burton. A dozen cars and kids having a party at the bean field in the back. Property does not have an address. Owner would like them removed. He didn’t approach them. Upon arrival no one was on scene. The complainant’s field was riddled with trash left behind from last night. While on scene, some of the individuals returned to clean up everything. Complainant was satisfied the scene was cleaned up and didn’t want any charges filed.
WEAPON OFFENSE
April 12
1:55 p.m., Bell Street, Newbury. Across the street from above address, white ranch with yellow car in the driveway. They are shooting guns and drinking alcohol over there. There is also neighbor kids running around. Deputy advised. No shooting upon arrival. Spoke with parties involved and advised them of the complaint. They advised all done for the day.
