Kenston Intermediate School is one of 104 schools from across the country and one of four in Ohio receiving the honor. Timmons Elementary School guidance counselor Eileen Kubas partnered with Kenston High School counselor Jessica Kardamis to connect elementary and high school students with someone new during several specially scheduled lunches throughout the year.

Seeking Advisory Board Member

The Kenston Board of Education created the Kenston Citizens Advisory Committee (KCAC) at its November 2006 meeting. KCAC was created with the overall purpose to provide input to the board on matters, financial and otherwise, as seen from the Kenston community’s perspective reinforcing the district’s vision statement that “an exemplary school district is committed to establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with its community.”

The Kenston Board of Education is seeking interested community members to serve a two-year term on KCAC. The board will fill one two-year position created by a resignation.

By May 10, individuals interested are asked to submit: one page of reason why the applicant desires to serve on KCAC; one page of resume data including background, education, experience, professional accomplishments and major strengths; and two letters of recommendation. Send the documents of application to President, Kenston Board of Education, 17419 Snyder Road, Chagrin Falls, OH 44023.

Community members that have applied in the past and would like to be considered are asked to send a letter stating their interest by May 11.

Interviews by the board will take place by the end of May with duties beginning in June. It is desired that the membership be as diverse as possible on a number of demographic and professional variables.

The composition of KCAC is nine community members, the district treasurer, the district superintendent and one member of the board of education. Community members serve for two- or three-year terms. KCAC will have a minimum of four meetings per year.
