The West Geauga Local School District receives funds annually from the federal government to provide various educational services. District admin-istrators invite comments from the public regarding services at a meeting to be held May 26 from 9-10 a.m. in the middle school community room, 8611 Cedar Road, Chester Township. If one cannot attend the meeting, please contact the district office at 440-729-5900 with input.

Title I Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged Basic/Targeted Program: Monies provide supplemental instruction in reading, language arts and mathematics to students in the elementary buildings that meet project criteria for service. Funds support staff services to children and families and are used to purchase supplies and materials and provide professional development. Funds to the buildings require that all students are taught by “highly qualified” teachers as well as those teaching in the Title I program.

Title IIA Improving Teacher Quality: Provide monies to increase student achievement by elevating teacher quality through professional development of staff in the areas of analysis of data assessment and instructional strategies in math and reading.

Title III Language Instruction for Limited English Proficiency and Immigrant Students: Provides monies to assist school districts in teaching English to limited English proficient children and helping these students meet the same challenging standards required of all students.

Title Part B IDEA Individuals with Disabilities Act: Provides funding for services, support staff, materials and equipment for school-age students with disabilities in order that they make progress toward rigorous college and career standards.

Title ECSE Early Childhood Special Education: Monies fund services, support staff, materials and equipment for preschool students with disabilities.
