The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 29 through June 4. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 358 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

May 29

5:26 p.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Snapping turtle in the driveway. Caller is afraid someone will get hurt. Deputy used complainant’s snow shovel and put the turtle in the ditch. Hopefully the turtle will return to the creek area down the ditch.

May 31

3:33 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Two small goats have been wandering around the property for a few hours. Unsure of who they belong to and they aren’t leaving the property. Deputy arrived on scene and spoke with the complainant, who advised two goats showed up at his property and he had no idea who the owner/s were. I advised him that I was unable to help him.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

May 30

1:41 a.m., Old State Road, Parkman. Kids throwing rocks on SR88 second house on southside from 608, kids are hiding out behind hill in front yard. Caller is in backyard and the kids have a fire going in the far back of house. Caller pulled off the road and is watching the kids out front laughing, throwing rocks and things at vehicles that are passing the house. Caller is now walking to front of property to get an address. Caller states kids are not throwing things anymore. He saw a car pass and they didn’t throw but now he see’s a whole bunch of stuff in the road that they were throwing. Deputy advised kids are not in the front yard anymore, they are back by the fire pit.

MEDICAL

June 3

8:56 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. White mini van hit my mailbox and did not stay on the scene. The vehicle left eastbound on Mayfield. Male got out of the vehicle wearing a black T-shirt and shorts. White male with light hair. There are fluids in the driveway, black in color. Caller called back and advised that the vehicle may have gone westbound past the house a moment ago.

NOISE PROBLEM

May 29

6:53 a.m., Burrows Road, Thompson. Kids blasting music. Would like someone to talk to them. Deputy arrived on scene and observed that the seniors were having an event on the front lawn, but I did not hear any excessive noise. I advised the school principal of the complaint.

RV PROBLEM

June 2

7:24 p.m., Blue Heron Trail, Munson. Golf cart driven by children and sometimes adults up and down the street. Today while coming home the driver swerved in front of the complainant. Subjects are out now and the complainant would like to speak to a deputy. She believes that they reside somewhere on Blue Heron. Deputy spoke with the homeowners and observed a golf cart parked at a Blue Heron address. No one was home at the residence.

SUSPICIOUS

June 1

10:11 p.m., Old State, Hambden. Male along the side of the roadway, just West of the intersection, North side of the roadway seemed to be signaling traffic. Jumping around by the side of the road. Grey sweatshirt and jeans. Unknown if hitch hiking or needing help. Deputy unable to locate.

June 3

9:39 a.m., North Woods Circle, Chardon. A golf ball hit our roof last night. There is no damage to the house. If we were outside it could have hit us. We went outside and there was no one outside. The neighbors hit golf balls around. We have found golf balls in the yard in the past. Caller would like a deputy to call him at work. Deputy called the complainant back who requested advice. I advised him that we could speak with his neighbors if he wanted us to. He advised he would call back after he speaks with his wife if he wanted us to speak with his neighbor.

VANDALISM

June 4

2:51 p.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. Complainant stated the front of his trailer was dented sometime within the last few days. Complainant did not see anyone around the trailer. Complainant had problems with the neighbor kids in the past and has called housing on them before. The red flag on the complainants mailbox was also torn off. Complainant has already contacted housing to advice them of these problems. Complainant would like this information documented. Nobody around the area saw the damage being done. Complainant stated that he was looking at purchasing security cameras for his residence. Extra patrol requested in the area.

WIRES DOWN

June 1

8:49 a.m., Kile Road, Hambden. Wire down across the roadway. The complainant stated that someone picked them up and put them on the mailbox. This was a third party caller who is not in the area. Montville PD on scene. Wire not in way of vehicle traffic. Unknown if wire is a phone line or cable. According to Montville PD, wire does not appear to be a power line. Wire removed at request of homeowner by phone company.
