The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 26 through July 2. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 347 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

June 28

7:58 p.m., Claridon Troy Road, Burton. Stray cat came into the house and was banging its head into walls and peeing everywhere. When they tried to get the cat, it bit the male and scratched him. They did get it trapped, but they don’t know what to do with it. They have it under a Rubbermaid tote with a rock on top outside the house. The cat came in when they had the door open to bring in drywall. Rescue Village enroute to get the cat. Male advised to make sure cat is tested for disease.

June 30

7:40 a.m., Hermitage Road, Chardon. Aggressive dog at above location, a malamut, contained in the back yard. Dog snapped at complainant. The dog did have her arm in its mouth, but let go. Complainant is advising she took the dog for a couple from Chagrin Falls. Deputy responded. Couple took a dog in from friends. This day the dog showed his teeth and grabbed the male’s arm. Male wants the dog removed. Deputy advised the dog warden.

July 2

8:13 p.m., Highland Drive, Troy. Caller has a large snapping turtle in her yard. Caller was trying to get it to go into the woods with a broom handle, but it won’t go. She also says the animals keep leaving the pond behind the property and coming into the yards. Deputy responded. Very large snapping turtle in a residential area. Complainants were concerned for pets and children. Turtle was removed and placed into the woods. Turtle went to the creek and left the area.

EXTRA PATROL

June 29

4:45 p.m., Hermitage Road, Chardon. Requesting extra patrol on Herm-itage, from Cambridge Road towards Griswold for speeders. Saw a newer black car today going so fast that when he hit the hill his car lifted off the ground. The road is in bad condition and vehicles should not be driving so fast. Deputy placed on extra patrol board.

RV PROBLEM

July 2

8:58 p.m., Copperleaf Drive, Hambden. First property on the left. The house on the right has subjects that ride their dirt bikes and 4-wheelers on the property. They are tearing up the lost. They have been told several times not to do it and they are out there again.

SUSPICIOUS

June 26

10:16 p.m., Auburn Lakes Drive, Auburn. Kids in the pool at Auburn Lakes. All the way to the back on Sagewood. Pool gets locked at 8 p.m. and there are no lights, so they would have to climb the fence to access the pool. Caller is concerned about their safety. Caller would like to remain anonymous. One male cited for marijuana and paraphernalia.

TRAFFIC OFFENSE

June 27

4:39 p.m., Mumford Road, Troy. Chevy Blazer, gold, passed caller in the deep water and splashed water into the car. ODOT was directing traffic in that area and the other vehicle disregarded their direction. Caller had her window down to see where they were going and avoid the water. Caller states the Blazer was driven by a young driver; they honked their horn at him to get him to stop, but he continued on. ODOT was directing

traffic to the right, but the Blazer went to the left, where ODOT had it blocked off. Caller would like to make a report.

July 1

10:21 p.m., Bridge Road, Middlefield. Caller advised when he was on Bridge Road, a white pick up pulled up in front of the buggy, stopped in the middle of the road and let off firecrackers and scared the caller’s horse. This occurred approximately a half hour ago; no plate obtained from the vehicle. Caller is at his residence now. Would like to meet with a deputy. Deputy met with the complainant and checked the area. Unable to locate.

WEAPON OFFENSE

June 29

1:01 p.m., Indian Hills Drive, Auburn. Caller states someone shot 10 rounds into the woods. There is a walking path in the woods that Kenston High School owns. He is worried about the welfare of anyone walking in the woods. Deputy checked the area and was unable to locate.
