Geauga Caprine Kids
Since the last news report, the Geauga Caprine Kids 4-H Club has been getting ready for skillathon testing. The test quizzes members’ knowledge of their animals and whether they are going to the Geauga County Fair this year.
As 4-H members, they have to know body parts, diseases, medical information and breeds of their animals. As members progress in knowledge and years, the test adds more and more information and knowledge that they need to know about their animals.
In preparation for this test, the club has had meetings dedicated to learning these essentials. Members also have to practice at home, and they are constantly quizzing themselves. It is a big event and all of the 4-H members attending fair will be there.
The day is near and members are ready to go. Wish us luck. (Submitted by Sam Adams, news reporter)
Geauga Beef & Swine
Geauga Beef & Swine 4-H Club held its last meeting on June 13 at the fairgrounds. The club had a potluck meal and cleaned the grounds after the antique market. Members all had a great time.
The kids are busy getting their animals ready for fair. They sold candy bars, also.
They voted to donate cheese for their livestock sale at the fair and they worked on skillathon for testing on July 18.
There will be a poultry sale at the fair. The birds will be sold by lots and will already be frozen.
Members also worked on barn decorations.
The next meeting will be July 19 at Carvers. They hope to have a swim party. (Submitted by Zachary Frank, news reporter)
