District Launches New Website

The Cardinal School District’s new website is up and running, officially going live July 31. The new feature is the latest in a series of enhancements designed to help improve communications between the district and the community.

Created by Company 119 out of Chardon, the new website was 100 percent funded through monies received from the Straight A Grant.

“This project did not cost the district one penny, it was completely funded through the grant, and it was something we absolutely needed to redesign. The decision to use grant dollars to upgrade the website supports a major objective embedded in the Straight A grant which is to digitize content at the high school level,” says Superintendent Scott J. Hunt. “We needed a more updated look to go with our new school logo and overall image transformation this new site has a cleaner look and is easy to navigate. The new site will readily enable our students to access their coursework via Google classroom through the updated site. In addition, I think parents, students, staff and the community will find it to be an extremely valuable resource for information about Cardinal Schools.”

Youth Football Camp

The Cardinal Varsity football team hosted a football camp for area youth the week of July 20 at Cardinal High School. High school players and coaches spent the week helping the younger campers execute drills, improve their offensive, defensive and ball-handling skills and better understand the game itself.

“After spending a week with these hard working young men, the future of Cardinal Huskies football looks bright,” says head football coach Eric Cardinal.

Marching Band Gears Up

The Cardinal High School marching band is working hard to prepare for the upcoming marching season. Members of the band, led by second-year director Tim Florjancic, got a full week of practice in before heading off to band camp at Edinboro College.

“We’ve made some good progress in this first week,” says Florjancic. “I’ve been working on new formations and music all summer and am excited to see how these students will bring those ideas to life on the field.”
