Volunteers, Old Photos Wanted

The Munson Township Board of Trustees is forming a Bicentennial Planning Committee for the 2016 celebration of the founding of the township. Photos of Munson’s past and other memorabilia would be of value for the celebration and returned.

Letters of interest can be submitted to the Board of Trustees, Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road, Chardon, OH 44024.

Fridays at Maplewood

The Maplewood Senior Complex, 12350 Bass Lake Road, Munson, extends an invitation to enjoy entertainment and appetizers every Friday in August from 1:15-3:30 p.m.

There will also be a Taste of Maplewood Aug. 26 from 6-7:30 p.m., with fresh farm-to-table food and raffle prizes. RSVP a week prior to each event at 440-285-3300.

WomenSafe Resale Shoppe

Clean and “nearly new” back to school children’s clothing and warmer adult clothing for the coming seasonal changes is available at the WomenSafe Resale Shop, 12601 Chillicothe Road, located in the Drug Mart Plaza in Chester Township. Donations of clothing, books, household items and works of art are welcome.

Women’s Retreat

Munsonite Claudia Toth has arranged for a Nature Break Women’s Retreat to be held rain or shine Aug. 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Geauga Park District’s Walter C. Best Wildlife Preserve, 11620 Ravenna Road, Munson. Cost is $6 per person. Registration is required at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org or calling 440-285-9516.

Amateur Radio Association

The next meeting of the Geauga Amateur Radio Association (GARA) will be held Aug. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Geauga County Emergency Operation Center, 12518 Merritt Road, Munson. The monthly meetings are open to all licensed “hams” and those interested in becoming familiar with this type of international talk radio.

Senior Day at the Fair

Senior Day at the Great Geauga County Fair will be held Sept. 4, with free admission for those 65 years and older. The Geauga County Department of Aging’s hospitality area will be in the Vernon Howard Building directly behind the Domestic Arts Building. Refresh-ments will be provided from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Reservations for free transportation must be made no later than Aug. 20 by calling 440-279-2130.
