Staff Participates in UDL Training

Cardinal teachers utilized their professional development day on Sept. 2 to participate in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) training. UDL is teaching educators how to structure class lessons to meet the needs of every student.

A research-based framework, UDL suggests that each student learns in his or her own unique way, so a one-size-fits all teaching approach is not always effective. Cardinal teachers will have the opportunity to expand on this training during their professional development time on early release Wednesdays, which started Sept. 15 and run throughout the year.

Hall of Fame Induction

The Cardinal Huskies will hold their second annual Athletic and Alumni Hall of Fame induction banquet on Sept. 19 at Bistro 608 at Grandview Golf Course. Doors open at 5 p.m., with dinner starting at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $30 a piece and are available now through the Cardinal High School Athletic Department.

The following nine individuals will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year: Matt Dulka (Athletic); Cara Edwards (Athletic and Alumni); Mark Giardina (Alumni); David Lucht (Alumni); Nick Marcu (Athletic); Tom Moss (Athletic and Alumni); Tom Neikirk (Athletic); Scott Shipman (Athletic); and H. John Visser (Alumni)

Inductees will also be honored before the home football game on Sept. 18.

Kick for the Cure

On Sept. 21, the Cardinal High School junior varsity and varsity soccer teams will hold a Kick for the Cure fund-raising event during their games against Wickliffe. The games will be held at Richard A. Moss Field at Cardinal High School; tickets are $6.

The JV game starts at 5 p.m., with the varsity game to follow at 7 p.m.

Event includes a 50/50 raffle, bake sale and T-shirt fundraiser. T-shirts are $10 and can be purchased at the game or pre-ordered online at cardinalschools.org.

All proceeds from the event will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research. The Cardinal soccer teams, Cardinal Athletic Department and Cardinal School District thank the community for its support of the event.
