Meal Delivery Drivers Needed

The Geauga County Department on Aging is in need of Home Delivered Meal drivers.

Once trained, volunteers can deliver meals as a substitute, once a month or as often as they would like. Many companies and/or civic groups organize their members to reduce the number of times individuals volunteer.

The meal routes are delivered Monday through Friday and provide a nutritious lunch to 10 to 15 homebound seniors.

Drivers must be 18 or older, have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Young Of Heart

Oct. 2, 12 p.m.

St. Anselm Young of Heart will meet at the parish center. The group will be entertained by the music of Dan Kral who plays many different instruments.

There will be a Nov. 10 trip to Castle Noel in Medina, home of Hollywood Christmas movie sets, Christmas window displays from Macy’s and the slide that Ralphie went down in “A Christmas Story.”

Also included is a stop at the Lodi Station Outlets, Root Candle Outlet Store and Medina Depot Antiques, as well as Malley’s Chocolates and Amy’s Arbors for wine tasting. Lunch is included at the Corkscrew Saloon. Cost is $84 ($87 non-members).

Holden Arboretum Field Trip

Oct. 6, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Geauga County seniors 60 and older, join the Geauga County Department on Aging for a guided tour of Holden Arboretum. The group will depart from and return to the Chardon Senior Center.

Lunch is at 11:30 a.m., followed by a one-hour tram tour, or seniors may choose to follow the walking path and climb the observation tower.

Cost, which includes transportation, admission and lunch, is $15. Registration required.

Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP

Oct. 6, 1 p.m.

The Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP 4527 will meet at the Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road.

The program will be “Music with Judy,” featuring vocal entertainer Judy Crawford. She will sing the songs of Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and Cole Porter.

After the program, there will be a brief meeting and information the last trip of the season to Seneca Allegany Casino in New York on Oct. 21. Cost is $38, with a $20 casino bonus and $5 food bonus. For information and reservations, call Skip or Marge, 440-338-3607.

Food and paper products will be collected for the Food For Friends food pantry as well as donations for the Geauga County Dog Shelter.
