The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 18 through Sept. 24. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 426 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Sept. 23
5:20 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Caller says that he was walking his dog and a pitbull came out and attacked his dog. He is trying to get his dog into the Burton vet, it is bleeding from around the mouth. He does not know the name of the pitbull’s owner but he thinks he has an idea of where they live.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Sept. 20
7:14 p.m., Madison Road, Thompson. Caller states his girlfriend’s 8-year-old son was playing with his handcuffs and locked himself in them. Caller advised he does not have a key. Caller works security for PNPP. Handcuff was removed from the child’s ankle.
EXTRA PATROL
Sept. 19
1:52 p.m., Nash Road, Parkman. Request for extra patrol. Today the caller discovered that the screen has popped out of his child’s bedroom window on the west side of the house facing the tree line. It is believed that this occurred sometime in the last two to three days. The window was locked and there was no entry gained. Complainant does not feel it’s necessary to meet with a deputy, but requests extra patrol at his residence.
Sept. 21
5:23 p.m., Munnberry Oval, Newbury. The caller would like extra patrol. He said an ice cream truck speeds on her street and is blaring his ice cream truck music. The caller does not need to meet. Deputy advised.
FIREWORKS
Sept. 19
8:08 p.m., Loring Ave., Aquilla Village. The house on the corner of Goredon and Loring is shooting off fireworks. I went over there to ask them how long they will be doing this and they advised all night. Deputy spoke with the citizens at the reported address who advised they have not been setting off any fireworks. They stated there is Aquilla Fest going on tonight. The fireworks have been going off all night around the village.
FRAUD
Sept. 18
8:19 p.m., Leggett Road, Montville. Caller states that she had someone come over to repair her computer. She was paying them, and now they have blocked her computer and she cannot do anything on it. Caller took the computer to Best Buy to see if they could fix it and they advised her not to turn it on.
NOISE PROBLem
Sept. 23
3:41 p.m., Henning Dr., Chardon. Teenager somewhere in this area is blasting very loud music. The caller wishes to remain anonymous. Caller was advised there is not a noise ordinance in place and if they wish to have one instated, they can contact their township trustees. Caller was very understanding and appreciative of us going to request the teenager kindly to turn it down. Area resident advised music stopped a few minutes ago.
ROAD RAGE
Sept. 23
4:22 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Male got out of his vehicle, came up to mine, and beat on my window. He threatened to kill me. Wearing a National Geographic shirt. Smelled of alcohol and marijuana. Deputy spoke with suspect who denied any confrontation.
SUSPICIOUS
Sept. 20
3:47 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Caller says that there are six 55 gallon drums that are at the corner. They do not appear to be leaking. Five look the same with no labels. One has a label that says non-hazard waste “purge water.” Caller used to be in charge of the County HAZMAT team. Deputy advised. Barrels appear to be on private property. Labeled “purge water.” Company is Terracon.
Sept. 22
9:56 a.m., Dora Drive, Newbury. Complainant was jogging down Neal Drive and a female pulled out of her driveway and almost ran me off the road. White car possibly an SUV. Caller said the female in the car came onto the soft berm, which made the caller scream to get her attention. Caller would like a phone call since she is leaving shortly. Extra patrol requested.
TRAFFIC HAZARD
Sept. 22
12:50 p.m., Burton Windsor Road, Middlefield. A red truck pulling an open bed trailer just lost 10 large pieces of metal in the middle of the road. The vehicle pulled into Honest Scales. Deputy advised. One piece of siding in the road, removed. Spoke with the operator, warning for unsecured load.
weapon offense
Sept. 18
7:47 p.m., Clark Road, Chardon. Neighbor is shooting in the direction of caller’s yard. Caller is worried for kid’s safety. This is not occurring now, but caller would like to show an officer what is happening. Documentation only at this time. Will call if problem persists. Advised that the shooting was coming from the Hunter’s on Auburn Road.
