Welcome Aboard

The Munson Board of Trustees recently appointed Joseph (Joe) Herczak to the Munson Park & Recreation Board. It is a voluntary position as are the Zoning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals. The Park & Recreation Board oversees the use and maintenance of the township’s parks and organizes family events throughout the year.

To apply to serve on any of the township’s boards, send a letter of interest, with resume, to the Munson Board of Trustees, Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road, Chardon, OH 44024.

Home Fire Prevention

The Munson Fire Department advises before using the fireplace to make sure the chimney is free of soot and the furnace/heating system is inspected. If one does not have smoke and carbon detectors, call the fire department for installation of one on every floor of one’s home. Fire deaths increase during winter and can be prevented by taking simple steps to insure heating systems and alarms are operating properly.

At the Senior Center

The Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Munson, is seeking volunteers for its home delivery of prepared meals to homebound seniors. Volunteers are assigned to routes they are familiar with and can specify days and times available. For information and to volunteer, call 440-279-2131.

Volunteers are also needed for the Fall Clean-Up program for seniors who are unable to do necessary yard maintenance and window cleaning. To volunteer, call senior center maintenance supervisor Bob Debevits, 440-279-2130.

Family First Council

The Geauga Family First Council will meet at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Geauga County Board of Mental Health, 13244 Ravenna Road, Munson. The monthly meetings offer support, understanding and help with family problems as provided by various Geauga County agencies.

Meetings are free and open to the public. Preregistration is not necessary.

Register to Vote

Election Day, Nov. 3, is fast approaching with several important issues for Munson voters. To be sure one is registered, or to get an absentee ballot, call the Geauga County Board of Elections, 440-279-2030, or stop in at 470 Center St., Building 6-A, Chardon.
