The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 25 through Oct. 1. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 413 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Sept. 27

1:51 p.m., Roselawn Drive, Burton. There are chickens loose again. They are running around between two houses that are vacant. They won’t be able to sell the houses with chickens running loose in the neighborhood. They will be in the road next. Deputy told me to call when they were out again. They are not on the caller’s property. Deputy advised. Note left for owner of chickens to call. They will be advised that their livestock must be penned in and kept from leaving the property.

Sept. 28

9:16 p.m., Fairmount Road, Newbury. Calling found a python in the nursing home.?It is contained in a box. It appears to be only a few days old. Game Warden advised that they do not respond to these types of calls. They advised to call an animal trapper or Jungle Terry. Animal trapper will be contacting Holly Hill and coming down to pick the snake up.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Oct. 1

4:42 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Looks like someone is struggling to get their sailboat pulled up onto shore. Caller is concerned that because of the wind, the person may be in distress. Caller stated the person appeared on shore, but was struggling to get his sailboat up on land with him. Caller states it was on the north side of Ladue. Deputy advised. The boaters were OK and not in distress. They made it back to the ramp.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

Sept. 30

3:40 p.m., Station Road, Middlefield. Caller has been having a problem with some Amish children on Peters Road. They won’t move off the side of the road when motorists drive by. They are also taking pictures of the caller when he drives by. He would like to speak with a deputy about the situation. Caller is a taxi driver, he is in the parking lot. Deputy will stop at the Peters Road school tomorrow about this issue.

NOISE PROBLEM

Sept. 25

2:30 p.m., Roselawn Drive, Burton. Roosters are crowing and it disturbs the peace. Caller would like to speak with a deputy about the matter. Complainant was extremely upset that three of her neighbors have recently purchased roosters that are waking her up in the morning and trespassing on her property. She was told to call if they are trespassing.

Sept. 25

3:32 p.m., Howard Drive, Chardon. Neighbors to the west, kids come home from school and then blast music really loud. Caller is requesting a deputy respond and ask them to keep it down. Caller was also advised to contact township trustees if the problem continues and she would like a noise ordinance put into place. Deputy located juvenile playing electric guitar and loud heavy metal music in the driveway. Asked to turn it down and be respectful of neighbors.

SUSPICIOUS

Sept. 29

11:16 a.m., Grace St., Newbury. Caller went grocery shopping and when they got back home, there was an extension cord plugged in the front porch, going to the neighbor’s house. No one asked to do this. The neighbor has anger issues and the caller is afraid to be home alone when the neighbor comes over to get his extension cord. Yet she does not want to cause a problem with the neighbor. Caller did end the call saying to send a deputy to talk to her. Deputy advised neighbor that he is not to steal power from the neighbor. He explained that the power is turned off and that he did not think they would mind.

VANDALISM

Sept. 30

9:28 a.m., Munn Road, Auburn. New construction home. No other damage observed. Unknown suspects spray painted on a Dumpster, and lit some type of combustible item on fire on top of the kitchen island. Kitchen island suffered minor cosmetic damage. Extra patrol requested for the night hours.
