Trunk or Treat

Scooby Doo, Pac-Man and Brutus Buckeye were among the special guests that appeared this week in St. Mary School and church parking lot as a new tradition was born. The St. Mary community hosted what it hopes to be its first annual Trunk or Treat event.

Forty vehicles put out their best costumes, decorations and games in hopes of being judged the best overall trunks for the event. Student council members, teachers and parents voted the winner as the St. Mary Life Teen truck, which included a full sized pirate ship theme. Second place was awarded to the Passow family who dressed as the entire Scooby Doo gang and handed candy from the Mystery Machine. Pac-Man and PSR brought home third with life sized characters and prizes.

The Chardon Fire Department brought its vehicles in and handed candy to the trick-or-treaters on a beautiful night for late October. The CYO Booster Club and Northcoast Corn provided snacks for sale.

All attendees agreed it was a fun and safe option for trick-or-treaters and the parents were happy to get extra use out of their little ones costumes. The event will undoubtedly return again next year.

Ghosts of Scientists Past

Sixth-grade students display their Ghosts of Scientists Past projects displayed in the school. Students enjoyed practicing their research skills to learn more about the founding men and women in the field of science who have passed, such as Sally Ride, Steve Jobs and Jacque Cousteau.
