The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Nov 13 through Nov 19. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 327 calls during this seven-day period.

BURGLARY

Nov. 19

8:29 a.m., Washington St., Auburn. The resident stated that this morning he woke up and went outside and found his garage door open and items missing. The resident stated that two chainsaws and a handgun are missing.

CITIZEN’S DISPUTE

Nov. 17

4:26 p.m., Claridon Troy Road, Claridon. Multiple residents are fighting.?It has been mostly verbal, escalating to physical. They picked up chairs and tried to throw them. Deputy advised. Two clients verbal argument. Both apologized and went to their rooms. Both were instructed on how to use their therapy when arguments arise.

EXTRA PATROL

Nov. 13

4:07 p.m., Cumberland Trail, Auburn. Parents were contacted by the school principal. There were rumors going around Kenston Schools that there is a party going on at the caller’s residence this weekend. The caller is out of town. Her 18- and 16-year-old boys are home. Their 21-year-old brother has also been staying at the residence. The parents have spoken with the boys, who stated they were unaware of any party plans. The parents are requesting we patrol the area and if there is anyone at the property other than the boys, they be removed from the property.

Nov. 18

10:23 p.m., Clay St., Montville. Truck caught on fire next to the house. Caller was on a cell phone with bad reception. Caller was advised to get all residents out of the home and as far away from the structure as possible. Cell phone disconnected, could not get caller back on line.

ILLEGAL BURNING

Nov. 16

6:00 p.m., Old State Road, Parkman. Caller advised someone is burning leaves and the smoke is going across the road. The caller feels there could be an accident due to poor visibility. Fire Department advised, they were okay. A deputy was not needed.

Nov. 19

10:43 p.m., Treadway Drive, Munson. The female is playing her radio very loudly, the caller would like it turned down. Report cancelled. Female called back and stated the neighbor’s turned down the music. No need for a deputy response at this time.

SUSPICIOUS

Nov. 18

12:53 p.m., Auburn road, Auburn. White male dressed like Amish driving a minivan with a flat bed trailer. It appears he is dumping barrels into Lake LaDue. Van was black. Barrels were old, appeared white original. Deputy checked the area, unable to locate the vehicle. Nothing appears to be dumped in the lake water.

THEFT

Nov. 13

3:15 p.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Caller states that a cell phone went missing during a class and may have been taken by some students. The principal interviewed two suspects seen in the video handling the phone. Neither admitted to taking the phone. The suspects are no longer at the school, however, the principal wants to make a theft report. Deputy spoke with the assistant principal who stated two students possibly stole another student’s cell phone, however, all the students left for the day. A message was left with the victim’s parents to contact the sheriff’s office if they wish to file a report.

unsecure premises

Nov. 14

5:49 p.m., Forest Oaks Drive, Chardon. Unsecure door to a residence, no vehicle. The caller came home and found the door open. No one is supposed to be home. Someone was staying at the house a few weeks ago and they left all of their stuff there. The caller is in her vehicle in the driveway with the doors locked. Deputies checked the inside of the home and nothing was found disturbed. Appears accidental.

WEAPON OFFENSE

Nov. 14

4:17 p.m., Thrasher Road, Troy. There is a male at this location who the caller believes is intoxicated and shooting his guns towards the river. Deputy spoke with the male at the residence and he stated the shooting was coming from across the river in the public hunting area. Male at the residence was not consuming alcohol.
