The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Nov. 27 through Dec. 3. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 315 calls during this seven-day period.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Dec. 2

4:56 p.m., Clark Road, Chardon. Caller’s husband has passed away. He had a rifle that she would like to get rid of. She didn’t want to throw it out and asked if she could bring the firearm to the Sheriff’s Office. She then stated she does not know if the weapon is loaded, or how to handle it and asked if she should put it in a plastic bag for us. Dispatch suggested we send a deputy to ensure safe handling of the firearm. Deputy advised. Pellet gun taken.

SUSPICIOUS

Dec. 1

6:02 p.m., GAR Highway, Montville. Caller is concerned about some activity going on at the abandoned property across the street. Caller advised that vehicles regularly are in and out of the property. Deputy spoke with the complainant. Advice given regarding neighborhood concerns with houses that are currently abandoned.

Dec. 2

4:12 p.m., Clay St., Montville. Caller advised he was recently on vacation. Caller returned home and states he was walking down his driveway, he located a used condom in his driveway. Caller is concerned someone was on the property. Caller advised he would like to make a report. Callers neighbor did see some activity in the driveway, two different trucks were seen while he was out of town. Deputy advised. Advice given, party will call for extra patrol when they leave again.

THEFT

Dec. 3

3:33 p.m., Mumford Road, Troy. Theft of a cordless drill, box of drivers and a staple gun. Taken possibly around 11/16, they had a security system installed and the male who installed it stole the items. Caller had a camera set up that captured the theft on tape. He was going through the footage today and discovered the incident. The caller does not know the male’s name, it was an installation tech from ADT. Report taken.
