NHS Induction

Congratulations to the following students on being newly inducted into the CHS National Honor Society: Madison B., Megan B., Aleyna B., Linsey L., Julia M., Allissa N., Emily N., Erin R., Jordyn S., Dawn S., Jessica S., Megan T., Marissa V. and Aidan W.

Current officers include: Haley A., Jocelyn B., Kathryn D., Emily K., Michelle M. and Cole Z.

The National Honor Society is an organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just students on Honor Roll, NHS serves to honor and recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character.

NHS looks at ways to help bring the community together and to also help show their school in a positive light. This includes, but is not limited to, fund raising for the school and other organizations, service projects and planning school events and activities while being exemplary role models for other students in the school district.

Hoops for Hope

Students and staff at Cardinal middle and high schools have donated $700 to the American Cancer Society after participating in the organization’s Hoops for Hope fundraiser. The event was a Best of 10 foul shot competition held during lunch hours at school. Students and staff paid a $10 or $20 donation to participate, with all money going to the ACS.

Winners from each school bracket then competed in the regional finals at CMS on Dec. 6. Sixth-grader Conner C. and ninth-grader Ashley G. both came in second place in the regional competition.

Twelfth-grader Emily K. finished first in her bracket in the regional competition and will now go on to compete in the finals at Quicken Loans Arena on Feb. 6. Good luck, Emily.

Outstanding Third-Graders

The East Geauga Kiwanis Club recently gave recognition to four third-graders from Cardinal Intermediate School for being outstanding students as chosen by their teachers.

Damion W., Kayleigh D., Frankie C. and Madisyn M. all received a certificate and four elementary fiction books from the club.
