The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 4 through Jan. 7. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 167 calls during this four-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Jan. 4
3:56 a.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. Caller heard a bunch of dogs howling in unison. She states this happened last year around this time of night. Caller states this has happened twice before. Caller is concerned about the welfare of the animals. Caller states it may have been someone driving through, but isn’t sure.
ASSAULT
Jan. 4
8:27 p.m., Mumford Road, Troy. Female assaulted last night. She was pushed in the garage and fell into the garbage can and has injuries to her face. She doesn’t know who it was. Caller is refusing EMS.
CITIZEN’S ASSIST
Jan. 5
3:34 p.m., Crampton Drive, Newbury. The caller is part of the Little Punderson Association. The person at the listed address is refusing to move his boat out of the road for the snow plow. They have sent him numerous warnings. The caller will be back at his residence to meet with a deputy. Deputy was unable to make contact with resident at time of call, will attempt later. Complainant advised that the boat is on park property and multiple letters have been sent to the resident. Stated that the association will have the boat towed soon if it is not removed.
FRAUD
Jan. 7
5:26 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Caller purchased a truck on Ebay. In the ad it said the truck had 160,000 miles on it. However, when the caller had the vehicle shipped to him it read 260,000 miles. The caller contacted the previous owner and he stated that is the correct mileage and that he cannot return the money because it is already spent. The caller would like a phone call to find out how to proceed. The caller had the vehicle shipped to him, he never came to Ohio. Advice given, civil matter.
SUSPICIOUS
Jan. 4
2:36 p.m., Mulberry Road, Munson. White truck with a Texas plate is going door to door asking about gas. Vehicle left unknown direction of travel. Caller would like someone to find the vehicle. The driver said he was looking for all the houses affected by gas lines on Fowlers Mills. Utility workers locating gas lines so county can clean out the ditch.
Jan. 5
7:48 p.m., Stone Road, Newbury. The caller walked outside and saw a white male trying to break into her car. The male ran towards Restful Lake. No clothing description. He was carrying something in his hand. Deputy spoke with the complainant who stated she came outside to have a cigarette and saw a white male attempting to break into her car. The unknown male looked at her and took off on foot south on Stone Road. Their was no damage to her car and nothing was taken. Extra patrol will be conducted throughout the night. Advice was given.
Jan. 6
1:22 p.m., Shedd Road, Middlefield. Dead end on Sheff. Theft of four cat beds and blankets over the last month. Also property damage, window and siding with BB?holes in them. Also christmas decorations damaged. Deputy met with the complainant who stated over a period of time he is missing four outside cat beds. The complainant will be putting up a camera and hopes to have a picture of those persons trespassing on his property. Complainant will call if this happens again.
