The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 8 through Jan. 14. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 309 calls during this seven-day period.

EXTRA PATROL

Jan. 10

7:33 p.m., Center Street, Parkman. Secretary of the church would like an extra patrol of the property over the next several days because over the past couple weeks, they have noticed multiple different suspicious cars in the parking lot and believe that people may be watching the church planning to break in. One vehicle was a red Chevy and one was a gold minivan. Cameras on two exterior doors. Deputies will check the property.

FRAUD

Jan. 9

8:40 p.m., Kenny Drive, Hambden. Caller bought a dog online from Craigslist and has paid for the dog. The caller does have a receipt for the dog for $600. They made previous arrangements with the seller for the dog to be delivered but now they refuse to answer her calls. Caller would like to file a report.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Jan. 10

5:45 a.m., Fairmount Road, Newbury. Caller states there is a Blazer that drove through his yard. They are now stuck. Caller does not want to approach them. May be another car out with it. The second vehicle just left Fairmount with hazards on. Caller states there was a group of them. He believes it may be a group of younger kids. They left the vehicle that is stuck in his yard. Deputy advised. A grey Minivan missed the turn onto Fairmount from Fairgate Boulevard and got stuck in the complaint’s yard. Unable to make contact with the owner. Complainant was advised if they don’t return to remove the vehicle within a few hours to call back.

SUSPICIOUS

Jan. 12

1:52 p.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Ford F150 parked again at the end of Cornelia by the gate. The Sheriff Office and Game Warden were here on Saturday. No parking on village streets. He does not live around here. He is putting on an orange vest. Possible hunter. Deputy advised. Hunter has permission to hunt per Game Warden. Resident upset because vehicle is parked at the end of a dead end road. States there is no parking on village streets. Deputy advised resident to contact village administrators.

THEFT

Jan. 8

4:39 p.m., Clay Street, Thompson. The caller is the caretaker for this property. The executor of the estate is in Florida. The caller advised that all of the equipment that was at this location has been stolen. The last time the executor was at the property was a year ago. Possible suspect is the male who was a power of attorney at one time. He will not return any phone calls to the executor or the caretaker.

Jan. 12

12:24 p.m., Owen Road, Parkman. Tenants were evicted on Jan. 4. They took a washing machine that did not belong to them, but to the homeowner. The real estate agent would like to file a report. They do have an email referencing a vehicle that was left behind this past Sunday, asking them to remove the vehicle and return the washing machine. They removed the vehicle, but did not return the washing machine. Deputy advised.

TRAFFIC HAZARD

Jan. 9

12:36 a.m., Hermitage, Chardon. Stop sign was removed from this location. It appears that whoever took it dumped it at Clark and Auburn. Chardon Township en-route to pick it up now. They had placed a temporary sign at the intersection of Griswold and Hermitage, but it is gone. They believe someone may have taken it. Chardon Township says they will be out Monday to put the permanent sign back up.

UNSECURE PREMISE

Jan. 12

9:18 a.m., Daniel Lane, Hambden. Caller at Daniel Lane states her neighbor’s front door is wide open. Unknown female owner has not been at the house for days. her car is not in the drive. Caller states if you’re standing in the road looking at her home, the trailer in question is the one to the right. Deputy checked and secured trailer.
