100th Day of Kindergarten
Celebrating the 100th day has become a rite of passage for Timmons Elementary School kindergartners. Not only do they celebrate the milestone, but they also explore the number 100. From creating T-shirts with 100 items, deciding how to spend $100 and talking about what it was like 100 years ago, it is not something children will soon forget.
For students in Mrs. Rachel Carter’s class, they made a new friend, Mrs. Claire Marcus, who will turn 100 this year. Mrs. Marcus visited her great-granddaughter’s class to talk about what it is like to be almost a century old. She shared with students the importance of reading and to always try to learn something new. She started taking ballroom dancing lessons at age 85.
College Credit Plus
The College Credit Plus Program (formerly Postsecondary Enrollment Options) allows eligible students in grades 7-12 to take a college course and earn high school and college credit that appears on both their high school and college transcripts. Students must meet eligibility requirements set forth by the college or university to participate.
Students and parents interested in participating in the program for the 2016-17 school year must attend the College Credit Plus night at Kenston High School, Robert A. Lee Auditorium on Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.
Representatives from area colleges and universities will be available to answer questions. Specific details on the program will be progressively added to the guidance website and in the high school guidance office as they become available.
