West Geauga Pickle Ball

Pickle ball was invented in the mid-1960s and is currently the fastest growing sport for senior adults in America. It’s a racquet sport that combines the elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis and Geauga seniors will soon be able to play it in the gym at Metzenbaum Center, 8200 Cedar Road, Chester Township.

Young of Heart
Feb. 19, noon
St. Anselm’s Young of Heart will meet at the parish center. Bring a brown bag lunch. Dessert and beverage will be provided.
Entertainment will be by the Chordials, a four-part harmony a cappella ladies group.
Out of County Medical Transportation
There are free transportation options available to Geauga County seniors to get to and from out of county medical appointments.
The Geauga County Department on Aging provides the Out of County Medical Transport program to Geauga County seniors 60 and over to designated parts of Lake, Cuyahoga, Portage, Ashtabula and Trumbull counties. Transportation is available Monday through Friday on a first-come, first-serve basis and has vehicles equipped with wheelchair lifts.
It is a curb-to-curb service and individuals need to be able to get in and out of the medical buildings on their own. A family member or attendant can also ride with the senior.
When calling to book a ride, please provide one’s name, address and phone number; the doctor’s name, address and phone number; the appointment date and time and approximately how long the appointment may last. Donations accepted.

Tax Assistance Offered
Tax assistance will be available to seniors 60 years of age and older at the Geauga County Department on Aging Multi-Purpose Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive. The department on aging will offer this service by appointment almost every weekday through April 8.
Tax assistance will be completed by a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) trained and certified person. Tax preparers will be using the electronic E-filing method.
Volunteers who will help prepare taxes will need two forms of identification from each taxpayer who is receiving tax assistance: one of the forms of identification must be a photo identification (passport, U.S. driver’s license, state identification card, military identification card, etc.). The second identification form can be an original or a copy of one’s social security card, ITIN card or letter, if applicable.
Do not discard the end of year social security statement it indicates the benefits one has received.
Seniors will have the option to have their refunds deposited directly into the bank account of their choice.
Start gathering tax information (tax forms, bank statements, receipts, W2s, etc.) for the upcoming tax season. Please also bring ones 2014 tax return for comparison.
