Pi Day
Students in Mr. Gannon’s math classes celebrated Pi Day on March 14 (3.14.16). They celebrated Pi Day by solving various math problems, including formulating different equations to solve circumference and area of circles. Students also designed individual Pi shirts and brought in circular Pi treats such as cookies, pies, and rice crispy treat in the shape of the Pi symbol.
Sheriff McClelland And Midge
St. Helen’s third-graders wrote letters of appreciation to local fire departments, paramedics and the sheriff’s office for serving the people of Geauga County. After receiving the letters of appreciation, Sherriff McClelland made a special visit to St. Helen’s School to express his gratitude to Ms. Reichard’s third-grade class. Sherriff McClelland brought along a special guest, Midge, who is certified by the Guinness World’s Records as the world’s smallest police dog.
Teddy Bear Picnic
Mrs. Mary Wollenberg’s kindergarten class at St. Helen School celebrated Presidents Day by learning important facts about many U.S. presidents. Students learned that the teddy bear was invented in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt. Kindergarteners brought in their favorite teddy bear and at the end of the day, they enjoyed healthy snacks at their teddy bear picnic.
