Distinguished Graduate Award
Each year St. Helen School looks for faith-filled, practicing Catholic graduates who are successful in their careers largely because of the excellent education they received at St. Helen School. Steve Kekedy and Kate Barcikoski were chosen to be this year’s St. Helen School Distinguished Graduates.
Steve was nominated by his grade school coach John Manfredi. John chose Steve for his years of volunteering and for resurrecting the St. Helen Unicycle Team.
Kate’s family nominated her for setting a good Catholic example and respecting all forms of life.
Honors Assembly
At the honors assembly held on May 31, 15 of the 26 graduates received the Presidential Award for Academic Achievement. The criteria for the award was an academic average of A from grade four through grade eight, as well as high achievement on the IOWA nationally-normed tests. A total of 21 students received academic honors.
Our graduates also received $5,675 in scholarships at the assembly. Previously, Dane Berschig, Frank Martin, Garrett Sah, William Steigerwald and Nicholas Wozniak were each awarded $16,000 from NDCL.
