The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 27 through June 2. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 520 calls during this seven-day period.
CITIZEN’S DISPUTE
May 27
7:21 p.m., Erwin Drive, Burton. Caller threw a ball and it went into the neighbor’s yard. I went looking for the ball and asked the neighbor if he saw the ball. He said that it was none of my business and said that he was going to call 911. Deputy advised. Complainant felt threatened because his neighbor said that he would call 911, so complainant called 911 first to document the matter. No threats or crime. Complainant did not want a deputy to talk to the neighbor and did not want his ball back.
EXTRA PATROL
June 2
8:18 a.m., Taylor Wells Road, Claridon. Request extra patrol due to suspicious white male who came to the door around 9 p.m. last night advising they had a report of a power outage at this residence. They had not made such report and power was fine. Older male in his 60s, grey hair, goatee, orange hard hat and wearing a yellow T-shirt. Complainant checked with First Energy and they did not have a report or sent anyone out. Complainant requested extra patrol.
HARASSMENT
May 28
4:41 p.m., Clay St., Montville. The caller is being harassed by someone in India. He would like a deputy to call him. Deputy called the complainant back and spoke with him. He advised he was receiving phone calls that were consistant with a common scam. He said he already called his service provider and reported this. Deputy advised him he could contact the FCC regarding this, but there was nothing the sheriff’s office could do at this point because the scam appeared to be originating out of the country.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
May 29
9:18 p.m., Georgia Road, Burton. Caller states someone drove over caller’s extension ladders. Caller believes they may have been there to pick up something they bought, but states they are broke now. Deputy advised. Damage was caused to ladders that had been sold at auction. Victim may be able to obtain possible suspect information and will call if he does.
THREATENING
May 28
9:27 p.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Male is sitting outside of the emergency entrance of the hospital wearing an orange shirt. Male will not give his name but states that he is from the county home and would like to speak to a deputy about someone at the county home threatening him. Deputy advised. Personality conflict between resident and staff member. No crime. It’ssue resolved for the night.
TRESPASSING
June 2
4:58 p.m., Fowlers Mill Road, Munson. The complainant stated that someone on a dirt bike is riding on his property. The caller does not know who this person is. Deputies arrived and checked the area. The complainant said the dirt bikes left right after placing the call to the sheriff’s office. He will place signs and possibly a camera in the woods.
