The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 10 through June 16. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 358 calls during this seven-day period.
ASSAULT
June 14
8:44 p.m., Kevin Lane, Hambden. The caller’s 12-year-old nephew was punched in the face by a 15-year-old male. The suspect lives somewhere in the park. Deputy spoke with all juveniles involved, as well as their guardians. Nobody wants to press charges and all juveniles were spoken to about their behavior. The two boys then apologized to each other, shook hands and will continue being friends.
SUSPICIOUS
June 10
9:58 p.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. Caller would like a deputy to respond because she found damage to a gate on her barn today. She doesn’t know if that damage was caused by a person or an animal. Deputy spoke with the complainant who stated that the lock inside the barn on the hay gate was damaged. Deputy viewed the lock which looked to be damaged by an animal. Advice given.
June 11
1:22 a.m., Zenith Drive,?Newbury. 10 Amish people waiting for a ride sitting across from caller’s house. They are not doing anything wrong. Caller just thinks it’s strange for this late at night. Deputy responded. Large Amish party. Most ran into the woods upon the deputy’s arrival.
June 12
6:03 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Several males are intoxicated. Anonymous caller is in fear they may drive. They are getting out of their Canoes now. Most of the males are wearing khakis with no shirts. Famous Iron Horse Saloon. Deputies spoke with a group which the owner stated had just got off the canoes. They had two sober drivers with them.
June 14
1:03 p.m., Turner Drive, Aquilla. At 9:30 this morning there was a male in a hoodie sitting in a chair with a gun in his lap and his back to the roadway. Caller is at work now so it is unknown if there is anyone still sitting there. She was advised that someone would drive by the area, but was instructed to call when incident are occurring. Deputy advised.?Area checked clear. No make outside on property.
WEAPON OFFENSE
June 14
8:43 p.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. The caller reports across the street from her property someone is shooting and it sounds like they are exploding something; they can hear booms. She believes they are on Bell behind the farm house or east of Auburn Road on Franks Road. The caller would like the Deputy to stop at her residence first. Deputy located where the shooters were, however, they were not there.
