KCS to perform “Radium Girls”

Kenston Center Stage has announced the cast for the Fall Drama production of “Radium Girls.” The Kenston production will feature Mia Bester, Jenna Blackburn, Dayle Foster, Julia Fugedy, Savannah Georgian, Chad Harris, Megan Herbruck, Sophia Irvin, Kelsey Kundtz, Jack McDonough, Colin Montville, Lukas Palumbo, Riley Potts, Anna Snyder, Jacob Spencer, Luke Totte, Nick Vitello and Nathan Wasinski.

In 1926, radium was a miracle cure, Madame Curie an international celebrity and luminous watches were the latest rage until the girls who painted them began to fall ill with a mysterious disease. Inspired by a true story, “Radium Girls” traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a dial painter, as she fights for her day in court. Her chief adversary is her former employer, Arthur Roeder, an idealistic man who cannot bring himself to believe that the same element that shrinks tumors could have anything to do with the terrifying rash of illnesses among his employees. As the case goes on, however, Grace finds herself battling not just with the U.S. Radium Corp., but with her own family and friends, who fear that her campaign for justice will backfire.

Performance dates are Nov.11-12 at 7 p.m. and Nov.13 at 2 p.m. at the Kenston High School, Robert A. Lee Auditorium.

Athletic Stadium Celebration

Join on Sept. 30 to celebrate the renovation of Kenston High School’s athletic stadium. Over the summer, new home and visitor bleachers were installed to seat over 4,000, new restroom facilities, ticket and concession facilities, new sound system and lighting, as well as a resurfaced track.

The Kenston Athletic Booster tailgate begins at 5 p.m. featuring a light dinner of hot dog, chips and beverage for $5. Gates open at 6 p.m. A ribbon cutting will take place at 6:45 p.m. prior to the band pregame show.

At 7 p.m., the Kenston Bomber football team will play Chardon. Show your Kenston Spirit; it’s a white out.

Homecoming Parade

Kenston’s annual homecoming parade will take place Oct. 6. The parade, which begins at 6 p.m., will feature the Kenston band and drill team, building floats and individual participants. The theme is “Enchanted Forest.”

The parade will begin in the high school staff parking lot. Please park between the middle school and intermediate school and view from the lawn of the middle school.

If a business or organization would like to participate in the parade, please contact Mr. Scott Pierce, KHS athletic director, at 440-543-9821 ext. 8505.
