Fall Play Funded by Church Donation
A generous donation from the Middlefield United Methodist Church will nearly fully fund the school’s upcoming fall play production. On Aug. 31, members of the church presented a check to high school Principal Jeremy Hunter in the amount of $1,065. Students who participated in the 2015 CHS fall play were also on hand to receive the check. One student even hugged members of the church before leaving, thanking them for their generosity and support.
Members of the church typically collect money to be donated to the school each year. This year, they wanted their donation to go directly to the fall play.
“We are happy to help the schools and are thankful to have such a generous church membership,” says Todd Ross, Middlefield United Methodist Church board chair. “We hate to see or hear about students who want to participate but can’t because they can’t afford to pay the fee associated with being in the extracurricular activity, hopefully this donation will serve to offset that cost a bit for this production.”
The 2016 CHS fall play will be on stage Nov. 10 -12.
The Wall That Heals
The high school students recently had the honor of visiting The Wall That Heals at the Geauga County Fairgrounds. The wall honors the more than 58,000 who died or went missing in the Vietnam War. It is a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., that is designed to travel to communities throughout the United States. The wall is open to visitors 24 hours a day until 4 p.m. Sept. 11. The students were very humbled by the wall and enjoyed the opportunity to visit the site.
Cardinal News Network Debuts
The Cardinal School District is proud to introduce the Cardinal News Network (CNN) to the community. Students in both the middle and high schools are utilizing available technology to create daily and weekly video announcements that are broadcast at their respective schools. In just a few short weeks, students have discovered and learned how to do so many interesting things.
Links to the announcements can be found on the district website: www.cardinalschools.org, on the district, middle and high school pages in the quick links sections. The district hopes the community will take a moment to view the products being produced at both schools as one more way to stay connected with Cardinal.
