The 33rd annual Burton Art Show features the work of artists from Geauga and Lake counties.
During show hours, there will be a scavenger hunt with prizes for the children. Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite art piece for the Popular Choice Award. The free event that is open to the public
Gallery hours are Oct. 4-6, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Oct. 7-8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Oct. 9, 1-4:30 p.m.

Words and Wine
Oct. 4, 6:30 p.m.
Mary Quade, author of the poetry collections “Guide to Native Beasts” and “Local Extinction,” and creative writing teacher at Hiram College, will be the featured poet at Words and Wine, a monthly poetry reading series now held at Bistro 70 in Painesville.
Open mic for poets will be hosted by Tobin Terry.

Choir Practices Begin Oct. 9
The Good Tidings Benefit Choir is recruiting voices for the 27th annual free holiday concert for the Geauga Hunger Task Force.
Choir members should be high school age and above. High school students receive community service hours for their work. Bring a copy of Handel’s “Messiah” or purchase one through local music stores. Copies will be available at the practices for approximately $8.
Practices start Oct. 9 at the Sisters of Notre Dame Provincial Chapel, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson Township, and will be held from 2-4 p.m. each Sunday until the performances Dec. 3 and 4. Soloists are chosen from the choir members through auditions.

Call To Entry For VAC Show
Oct. 20-22
The call to entry for the Valley Art Center’s 45th annual Juried Show is now open. Artists living within a 250 mile radius of Chagrin Falls are invited to submit artwork for consideration. Each artist is invited to submit up to two pieces in any art medium. Work that has been previously displayed at VAC is not eligible.
Work can be submitted Oct. 20 and 21 from 8-10 a.m. or 4-6 p.m. and Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Work will be judged on quality, originality, concept, design and technique. Cash awards will be given.
The opening reception, which is free and open to the public, is Nov. 4 from 6-8 p.m. The show will run through Dec. 14.
