GLTG Presents “Fruitcakes”

Imagine a small town where everyone knows everyone’s business, everyone gathers for events and holidays are a mixture of fun and stress. Watch the drama play out in “Fruitcakes,” a Christmas comedy at Geauga Lyric Theater in December.

Two unmarried sisters who share a house, but can’t stand each other need to work together every Christmas to carry on the fruitcake baking tradition of supplying the townspeople with everyone’s favorite baked good. But their mother willed each only half of the recipe and neither sister is willing to share. Add to their shenanigans a fruitcake snitching runaway, a lost cat, a Christmas hog named Buster, a bustling Christmas tree lot, a chicken pox epidemic and so much more making it a recipe for holiday fun.

“Fruitcakes” will run weekends Dec. 2-18. Friday and Saturday shows are at 8 p.m. and Sunday shows are at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $8 for children, $13 for students and seniors and $15 for adults.

On Dec. 3, for only an additional $10 per ticket, attend Fruitcakes Festive Fundraiser at GLTG’s Art Center across the street at 106 Water St. Before the show, enjoy wine and appetizers and bid on a special raffle basket, mystery boxes for kids and adults and a holiday sing-along. After the show, come back for dessert and the winner of the raffle basket. Wear an ugly sweater and GLTG will post the selfies on its Facebook page.

Tickets for the show can be purchased online at www.geaugatheater.org or by calling the box office at 440-286-2255.

Fundraiser tickets can be purchased through the box office or the business office at 440-285-7701.
