Facilities Staff Receive Perfect Safety Audit Score

Each year, Chagrin Falls Exempted Village Schools has a third party conduct a comprehensive safety audit of its facilities operations. The safety audits are performed by a third party company in order to receive a professional and independent evaluation of the district’s facility management operations against regulatory workplace safety policies and standards. The audit evaluates compliance in 13 main categories and checks 121 action areas for compliance.

“Thanks to the efforts of our District Safety Committee comprised of Mark Johnson, Jeff McLean, Donnie Miskinis and James Nace and the efforts of all our custodial, maintenance and grounds staff, we received a score of 100 percent this year,” said Superintendent Robert Hunt, Chagrin Falls Schools

All members of the facility staff worked towards improving the district’s safety processes. Custodial, grounds and maintenance staff members attended internal and external safety training courses throughout the year, reported unsafe conditions, made safety suggestions and worked diligently to create a Zero Harm Mindset.  The audit’s focus is to evaluate the effectiveness and compliance of health and safety standards against regulatory requirements and the district’s journey toward Zero Harm.

“These standards contribute to our ability to provide safe facilities for our staff and students,” said Director of Operations and Strategic Initiatives Christopher Woofter, Chagrin Falls Schools.

The third party audit is a leading indicator that assists the district in making informed decisions regarding continuous improvement.

“By creating leading actionable information that allows for continuous improvement of safety, we operationalize, integrate and provide value to safety processes and programs in all that we do,” continued Woofter.

“Our goal is to create a Zero Harm Mindset, integrate safety solutions into all of our work on a daily basis, and achieve 100 percent compliance with our safety standards, programs and policies. Receiving the 100 percent score on our third party audit indicates that we are making progress towards our goal of achieving the Zero Harm Mindset,” concluded Hunt.
