Geauga Parks Nature Scopes

NDES fifth-grade students in Nicole Bukovec’s class expanded their current knowledge of the solar system with the next session of the Geauga Parks Nature Scopes. In this experience, students spent the morning under a makeshift dome viewing constellations and discovering the mysteries of moon phases and stars at other hands–on activity stations.

Geauga Park District’s Nature Scopes program, sponsored by the Foundation for Geauga Parks, creates a unique link between nature and Geauga County’s youth. Children get a close-up look at the natural world – a look that goes a long way towards fostering a lifelong appreciation of nature.

Student wins Inventor Contest

Eighth-grader Sarah Hofius is the 2017 winner of the Student Ideas for a Better America competition. Sarah has been recognized by The National Museum of Education for her invention of the “The Swifter Lifter,” which works like a conveyor belt to haul laundry up stairs.

Hands That Serve

Reaching out to the community and beyond is an integral part of NDES core values. Through a collaborative effort with the NDES staff, Notre Dame Parents Association and Student Council, NDES gives back to many different service organizations throughout the year. From food banks to hospitals and various foundations, the goal is to make an impact on the community with NDES hands that serve and hearts that love.
