Thompson Ledge Dairymen

Thompson Ledge Dairymen 4-H Club had its first meeting of 2017. It was held on Feb. 18 at Thompson Town Hall. The club held nominations and voting for new club officers. Also, the group went over new poultry changes for the members who have poultry.

The club discussed and decided to do a 4-H window display at Robison’s Equipment Supply and Schaffert’s Feed in Thompson. They were both done on March 4. Members also discussed new fair theme for 2017, which is “Country roots and Cowboy boots”

The club will be doing a fundraiser by selling Malley’s Chocolates. Members also went over the constitution and bylaws. There was a discussion on Dairy Palooza being held April 22, and quality assurance and quality assurance test out dates. The next meeting will be April 8. Bunny Bunch

On Feb. 28, several members of the Bunny Bunch 4-H Club, their parents and advisors gathered at the Middlefield Library to decorate a cabinet to tell the story of 4-H and the Bunny Bunch.

The club put in articles like books on rabbits, The Geauga County Fair Book, junior fair project books and some ribbons from the club. 4-H is a lot of fun and the club is always looking for new members. There are clubs for every interest; Bunny Bunch is focused on rabbits and cavies.

Join the third Thursday of the month at the Claridon Town Hall at 7 p.m.

Additionally, various committee heads were elected: Mya Barger for health and safety, Jeannette Baker and Heather Patterson for recreation, Halley Nau and Alayna Stephens for historians, Jeannette Baker and Marley Grandini for community service, Diana Shale for news reporter and Riley Ashcroft, Allie Gaskill and Maddie Purcell for photography.

Braided-N-Banded would also like to thank all the sponsors, advisor, friends and families for a successful Geauga County Horse 4-H Club fundraiser. Due to their generosity, the kids in Horse 4-H will have another great year.

The club participated in the Geauga County 4-H Showcase on March 4, which kicked off Ohio 4-H week taking place May 5 through May 11. The purpose of the showcase was to share what 4-H has to offer. In continued celebration and recognition of Ohio 4-H week, Braided-n-Banded created a window display at Linda’s Restaurant in Middlefield. (Submitted by Diana Shale, news reporter)
