Geauga Caprine Kids
Geauga Caprine Kids had a great time at the Geauga County Fair. Not only did members have fun demonstrating their knowledge to the attendees and judges, they all placed well, too. There were many blue, red and white ribbons and two of the club’s senior members qualified for the showman of showmen challenges, with one taking third place.
The advisors were very pleased with all the hard work members put in over the past few months and were able to celebrate the club’s success.
Looking back over the past year, it is amazing how much members have grown individually and as a club. Individually, everyone has poured time and energy into learning more about the projects. Together as a club, members have helped each other step out of their comfort zones and grow their leadership skills.
The group has touched the community with handmade placemats for the elderly, food baskets at Christmas for needy families and candy-filled, hand decorated eggs for daycare children at Easter.
As the year comes to an end, I am looking forward to the next meeting when the group wraps up the year and starts planning for next year’s exciting adventures.

Feathers and Fleece
My experience during this fair was amazing. The reason I went was because I entered my market turkey and market chickens that were auctioned off.
The first day of fair was market judging. It’s where one sees how good of meat quality one’s animals are. Friday was showmanship, where a judge asks questions about the animal to see how well it was raised and one’s knowledge on the breed of bird. I also worked at the Junior Fair milkshake booth.
Saturday was the auction. I sold my turkey and chickens and made $600. On Sunday, I went on rides, went to the tractor pull and hung out with friends the whole day. Monday was the last day of fair. I had to clean the barns and the animals went to the processer.
This fair was my favorite one, yet. I met many new people and had a great time.
