Giggles ‘n Stitches
Giggles ‘n Stitches 4-H Club, a group of about 25 girls who enjoy sewing, just elected its club officers for the new 4-H year at its March meeting. Graycen Wood was elected president, Sarah Ward was elected vice president and Elizabeth Cooper and Katherine Baumgartner are the new secretary and treasurer, respectively. In addition, the club elected Angela Aquila and Madison Thomas as health and safety officers, while Sheila Roberts became the news reporter and Susie Roberts the new hospitality coordinator.
This year, Giggles ‘n Stitches created a Historian Committee to take pictures and create a scrapbook filled with great sewing memories. Maggie Eibler, Taylor Dawson, Olivia Hall, Katie Penzenik and Rachel Williams are the committee members.
The girls are excited to start sewing again and create some beautiful outfits. Members will take a field trip to JoAnn Fabrics in Hudson on May 16 and will meet weekly throughout June and July to complete their garments.
The members of Giggles ‘n Stitches are looking forward to the Geauga County Style Show, where they will model their completed projects. The Style Show will be held on July 21 at Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin. Members will also participate in a style show on Monday of the Great Geauga County Fair in the Junior Fair Building.
The club’s advisors are Julia Wood and Beth Ward. They assist members with their projects and coordinate all club meetings and events.
New members and visitors are always welcome. Please contact the Geauga County 4-H Office, 440-834-4656, if interested in learning more. (Submitted by Sheila Roberts, news reporter)
