Feathers and Fleece

In October, the Feathers and Fleece 4-H Club met at the Sunny Brook Preserve and is already preparing for next year’s projects and fair.

Members went over the leadership positions available for the youth to hold to help run the club. These offices include president, vice president, secretary, news officer, treasurer and activities officer. At the next meeting, the club will have the election.

Members also planted flowers in adorable little teacups to give to the local hospital or nursing home.

The Geauga County Fair was amazingly fun this year. It went by so fast. Members learned so much showing the projects that they had worked on over the summer. This year, I personally spent most of my time in the sheep barn because there were no poultry. Hopefully, next year there will be poultry. I missed not having the birds there, but I’m glad the poultry people went to the extra effort to still have a poultry sale. Many counties did not do that.

One of my favorite activities was watching the Showmanship Sweepstakes and having a milkshake, make that lots of milkshakes.

Thank you, everybody for supporting the Junior Fair. The club really appreciates it. Hope to see you next year. (Submitted by Jessica Burden, news reporter)
