Breeders and Feeders

Pig barn setup is Aug. 22, starting at 8 a.m.; teardown will be on Sept. 12.

Poultry members – please bring a poster on a poultry disease or just your project to the upcoming meeting on Aug. 23. In addition, please bring a picture of yourself – whatever size or kind you have. There is no need to have your bird in the photo. The photos will be used for the club display in the barn.

In addition, market poultry will be going out on Aug. 26 and can be picked up the Tuesday after fair and will be frozen.

Please make sure you are marketing yourself and your animal projects. Get yard signs out if you have any.

Barn setup for beef will be on Aug. 30.

All members need to make one dozen cookies, brownies, cupcakes or muffins for the livestock sale.

The sale is 2:30 p.m. for small animals and 5 p.m. for large animals.

The club picnic will be on Sept. 20. (Submitted by Mike Fenstermaker, news reporter)

Granny’s Kids

Granny’s Kids 4-H Club met July 12 at Mrs. Kitko’s house.

The club had a mini goat show. Members learned that they are supposed to have the goat in between them and the judge. Mrs. Kitko also had members switch goats and set up their feet just like the fair. When they switched back to their own goats, they had a little trouble and messed up a few times before they got the rotation right.

The club had a picnic July 9. It was very nice. The next meeting is Aug. 30 at the goat barn to clean and set it up. (Submitted by Anthony Gillespie, news reporter)
