Breeders & Feeders 4-H Club held its monthly meeting on June 11 at Munson Town Hall.

Breeders & Feeders 4-H Club held its monthly meeting on June 11 at Munson Town Hall. The group collected nonperishable food items for the Geauga Food Pantry and made fleece blankets to be given to veterans during the fair.

During the meeting, the members listened to a presentation by Carol Derived, a past 4-H alumna, on how to market oneself and one’s projects to prospective buyers. The members also played a game called skillathon field day to help them prepare for skillathon judging in July.

The next meeting will be on July 11 at 7 p.m. at the Paterson Center to work on skillathon, which will take place at the fairgrounds on July 15. (Submitted by Jacob Grinstead, news reporter)

Geauga Beef and Swine

The Geauga Beef and Swine 4-H Club had their meeting on June 10. Roll call was taken and everyone present told the name of his or her animal. Brock Calabrese presented his report on buyer letters and Tyler Plants presented his report on ear notching.

The club will be collecting food for Fighting for Hunger food drive at its July meeting. Members went over barn decorations and buyers gifts. Informational handouts were passed out to help with the upcoming skillathon on July 15.

Geauga Livestock

The Geauga Livestock 4-H Club had its meeting on June 11. The club is selling Malley’s candy bars as a fundraiser. Members also discussed having a car wash as another fundraiser and are currently looking into places to hold the car wash.

The club is donating money to the 4-H food drive that is taking place. At its July meeting, members will make fleece blankets as another community service project.

Four-H project judging is July 15 and the club went over a computer presentation of leg structures and reviewed the different breeds.
