‘Bye Bye Birdie’ Shakes, Rattles and Rolls

Opening Friday and continuing untill Feb. 8, the Skip Kelley Youth Production of “Bye Bye Birdie” will take Geauga Theater’s stage by storm.

Based on Elvis Presley, a young rockstar named Conrad Birdie is drafted into the military and goes on a whirlwind “goodbye” tour, breaking hearts and causing teenage palpitations.

Conrad is played by Brian Ferris, who enjoys the swooning girls surrounding him. His agent, Albert, is played by Matt Gittins, last seen at GLTG in The Fantasticks.

“I’m enjoying the role of Albert,” said Gittins. “He’s different than anything else I’ve ever played. He’s caught between two strong-willed women and a rockstar.”

Director Bruce Bogart also was first on GLTG’s stage in The Fantasticks and is enjoying his directorial debut at GLTG.

Come enjoy this light hearted musical and take a break from winter for an hour or two.

Bye Bye Birdie runs Jan. 23 to Feb. 8, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. at Geauga Theater, located at 101 Water St. in Chardon.

Tickets are $14 and $10 for those 12 and under.
