Antique Power Exhibition
July 28-30, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Geauga County Historical Society and the Historical Engine Society will hold the 47th annual Antique Power Exhibition on the grounds of Century Village Museum in Burton.
On display will be demonstrations of various types of antique machinery, such as steam engines, stationary and portable gas engines, tractors, excavating and construction equipment, grain threshing, cars and trucks and blacksmithing. There will also be a parade of machinery through downtown Burton at 10 a.m. Saturday, children’s rides on Murphy’s Railroad and open house tours of Century Village’s restored homes and shops.
The featured tractor maker is Case Tractors. A 1960 Case 430 Diesel tractor will be raffled off during the show.
Friday is preview and set-up day with reduced admission. Admission is $2 Friday and $6 Saturday and Sunday. Admission for children 6-12 years old is $3. Children under 6 will be admitted free.

Food Pantry Open

The Food Pantry at Chester Christian Center Church will be open to the community. The pantry is open to anyone who is in need of food. One does not need to be a member of the church to attend.

Scrap Tire Collection
July 29, 8 a.m. to noon
Troy Township will host its annual scrap tire collection event in the parking lot behind the Troy Community House, 13950 Main Market Road. Bring identification to verify Troy Township residency; IDs will be checked.
Passenger vehicle and small truck/SUV tires only. No semi or tractor tires accepted. A maximum of eight tires per household will be accepted. Tires must be off rims.

Tenth Annual Dice Run
July 29
Chardon Post 6519 will host the 10th annual Dice Run. Sign up begins at 10 a.m. at the Chardon Post, 752 Water St. First bike out is at 10:30 a.m. and last bike out at 11:30 a.m. Last bike in is at 4 p.m.
Complimentary snacks will be provided at five stops with open cash bars. All stops are VFW or American Legion posts.
Event includes 50/50, pull tabs, doors prizes and a grand prize. Directions and maps will be provided at sign-in.

Concert In The Park

The 34th summer concert series continues with the Don Disantis Orchestra at the gazebo in Chester Township Parkside Park.
The group of professional musicians and music educators has a broad repertoire including show tunes, pop hits and rock. Disantis was vocalist for the Harry Hershey Orchestra, singing many pop tunes in the Frank Sinatra style. They are all veterans of pit bands for many stage productions.
Free popcorn will be provided along with pop and water at nominal prices.

Chardon High School boys and girls soccer teams are hosting a fundraiser at St. Mary Church Banquet Room in Chardon. One hundred percent of the proceeds will assist with the financial hardship for Chardon families battling cancer.

Civic Club Ox Roast
Aug. 5, 12:30-6 p.m.
The sixth annual Community Ox Roast sponsored by the Bainbridge Civic Club will be held at Centerville Mills Park, 8558 Crackel Road in Bainbridge. Proceeds benefit Bainbridge Area Food for Friends and the club’s Kenston High School Scholarship Fund.
There will be entertainment throughout the day, including a bounce house and carnival games for children, music, various Kenston organizations, police and fire department information booths and other surprises.
New this year is an exhibit of antique cars, including Ford Model A and T, old tractors and trucks. Owners of these types of vehicles are welcome to participate for free.
A fun run around the former campgrounds will start at noon. Register by 11:30 a.m. and receive meal and T-shirt.
Presale tickets for adult meals are $17 through Aug. 4. A child’s hot dog meal is $6. Tickets sold on Aug. 5 are $22.

Farmers’ Market Farm Tour
Aug. 12
The Geauga Fresh Farmers’ Market will sponsor a farm tour to Hershberger Organic Farm in Middlefield, a 22-acre Amish owned farm.
Free transportation is available on an air-conditioned minibus that leaves the farmers’ market parking lot in South Russell at 1 p.m. The tours are free and approximately 90 minutes plus transportation time in duration.
