Drive-Thru Food Distribution
Wednesdays, 3-6 p.m.
United Way Services of Geauga County has teamed up the Greater Cleveland Food Bank to provide boxes of food to Geauga residents.
The drive-thru food distribution will now take place each Wednesday in April at Kent State University, 14111 Claridon-Troy Road Burton.
Registration is required weekly at wefeedgeauga.com or by calling 216-738-2265 or 211.
Arrive with a clean trunk and stay in vehicle. Masks are required.
Genealogical Society Meets
April 13, 7-9 p.m.
John Kolar, Geauga Park District naturalist, will present “The History of Ansel Savage and Ansel’s Cave” via Zoom at the next virtual meeting of the Geauga County Genealogical Society.

Geauga Co. Tea Party Meets
April 14, 6:30 p.m.
Geauga County Tea Party will meet at the Metzenbaum Center, 8200 Cedar Road, Chester Township. Join to watch Tom Niewulis’ portrayal of Founding Father Sam Adams presenting the Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates.

Protect Geauga Parks

Join Protect Geauga Parks for a Zoom webinar, “Weeds for Your Needs with Doug Elliott: A Celebration of Useful and Interesting Wild Plants – Their Stories, Songs and Lore.”
A storyteller, author, herbalist and musician, Elliott will share his knowledge of useful wild plants.
The webinar is free, but guests must pre-register to attend and receive a link to join the program.

Free Fresh Produce
April 17, 9-11 a.m.
Newbury United Community Church will resume hosting fresh produce giveaways the third Saturday of each month through August at the church located at 14916 Auburn Road.
Cleveland FoodBank provides the service to low income Geauga County residents. Please bring ID, bags and mask.
Gardening Helpline
Gardeners may send their gardening questions to the Master Gardener at mggeauga@yahoo.com.
The Ohio State University Extension volunteers are trained to educate others with timely research-based gardening information and are available April through October.
Include a detailed description of the problem along with one’s full name, address and phone number in the email. Feel free to send a photo of the gardening problem.
Email will be checked Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Audubon Goes on Backyard Safari
April 20, 7 p.m.
Blackbrook Audubon Society presents “The Wildlife of Bass Lake” in a virtual program with nature enthusiast Chris Parker. Parker has documented his face-to-face encounters with the variety of wildlife that swims, flies and walks at Geauga Park District’s Bass Lake Preserve in Munson Township.

Prime Rib Dinner, Drawing
May 8, 6-7 p.m.
Chardon VFW Post 6519 will host a prime rib dinner and drawing at the post located at 752 Water St. The $500 drawing will take place at 7:15 p.m. Donation is $25; only 80 tickets will be sold. Call 440-285-3699 for information.
The post is also serving chicken sandwiches with sides Tuesdays from 5-7 p.m. Donation is $6. Dinners are open to the public.
