Trash and Scrap Tire Collection

July 31, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Troy Township will host its annual trash collection and scrap tire collection event in the parking lot behind the Troy Community House, 13950 Main Market Road. Bring identification to verify township residency.

The event is made possible through a grant received from the Geauga Trumbull Solid Waste Management District. For more information, call the township at 440-834-8614.

Huntsburg Grange Concert

July 31, 6-8 p.m.

Huntsburg Grange summer concerts in the gazebo park located at the corner of state routes 528 and 322 returns with True Country featuring Jim Hein. Food will be available along with a 50/50 raffle and cakewalk. Concert will be held rain or shine; bring a lawn chair.

Geauga Skywatchers Club

Aug. 2, 6:30 p.m.

Learn all about “Humans to Mars” during a virtual program offered through a collaboration of Foundation for Geauga Parks, Chagrin Valley Astronomical Society, Geauga County Library System, Burton Public Library and Geauga Park District.

Craig H. Williams, from NASA Glenn Research Center, will present an overview of NASA’s recent planning for sending humans to Mars as well as the 1987-92 Space Exploration Initiative study.

Benefit Sale

A benefit sale for Brian’s Place day program for the handicapped will be held at Huntsburg Community Center, 12406 Madison Road in Huntsburg Township. The bag sale will be Friday.

Kiwanis Summer Concert Series

Aug. 4, 7 p.m.

The Kiwanis Club of West Geauga’s 38th annual summer concert series at the Chester Township Park gazebo continues with FM77 performing hits from the ‘70s and early ‘80s. In the event of rain, the concert will be canceled.

HomeGrown Geauga

Tickets are now on sale for Geauga Growth Partnership’s annual HomeGrown Geauga fundraising event at Sapphire Creek Winery & Gardens, 16965 Park Circle Drive, Bainbridge Township.

Join for an evening of homegrown food, spirits and entertainment, silent and live auctions and a raffle. VIP tickets provide early entry to include private wine and cheese pairing at 5:30 p.m. with a wine and cheese pairing.

The benefit auction for Middlefield Care Center will be held at the Buster Miller farm, 17719 Newcomb Road, Middlefield. Event includes food, Chinese raffle and bake sale. Quilts sell at 7 p.m.

FGP Explorers Series

Join the Foundation for Geauga Parks and a Geauga Park District naturalist for a backcountry ravine exploration of Welton’s Gorge, 13973 Hale Road in Burton. Be prepared for a rugged, strenuous hike that will be held rain or shine.

Wings and Wheels Event

Classic Jet Center and Carver Financial are hosting a Wings and Wheels event at Lake County Executive Airport, 1969 Lost Nation Road in Willoughby.

Fly-in and drive-in; there is no registration fee for planes or cars. All planes are welcome. Registration and staging is from 9-11 a.m.

Trophies for Best in Show and People’s Choice will be awarded at 2 p.m. Food will be available.

Chardon VFW Chinese Auction

Chardon VFW Post 6519 will host a Chinese auction at the post located at 752 Water St. in Chardon. All proceeds will go to the veterans.

14th Annual Dice Run

Aug. 14

Chardon Post 6519’s 14th annual Dice Run begins at 11 a.m. at the post located at 752 Water St. Last bike in is at 4 p.m. Open to the public, bikes, cars and trikes are welcome.

Donation is $20 per rider and $5 per passenger. Cash award for high and low dice roll. Event includes 50/50, pull tabs and Chinese auction.

Food will be provided at the end of the run with a cash bar.

Twilight Soiree

The Foundation for Geauga Parks’ signature event, Twilight Soiree, returns to Big Creek Park Donald Meyer Center in Chardon Township.

The indoor/outdoor celebration of Geauga County’s parks and preserves features catered food, beverages, live entertainment by Neil Young tribute band Harvest, as well as a silent auction, Best of Geauga raffle and more.

Proceeds benefit Foundation programs and educational initiatives.
